dandruff shampoo prescribed by the doctor?

Have you tried using an unscented shampoo and adding a drop of tea tree oil when you do your hair.

Have you tried t-gel? I have a sensitive scalp so whenever I get the bad idea to put gel/wax in my hair, it itches quite a bit but that Neutrogena stuff sorts it out.

Would that include soap and/or talcum powder?

If so, I believe we may have traced the root of your problem.

Reply 5

it could just be shampoo buildup from all that shampooing you know

well watever shampoo/condiotoner my mum has in bathroom at time, i use that. i cant see how bits of shampoo are left in cos i rinse it real gd

Well perhaps you ought to try a medicated shampoo rather than whatever just so happens to be on the shelf when you reach out of the shower and grab. If it's been going on a long time maybe you ought to visit the doctor - or bring it up the next time you go if you don't want to make a specific appointment. If it is very very severe, perhaps you have psoriasis (although this sounds highly unlikely from what you've described) If not, maybe a shampoo designed to help psoriasis might be useful anyway?

well not severe. i look at my hair in mirror and cant see any flakes but if i wear a dark tshirt, i notice flakes on my shoulders

Use a shampoo like head and shoulders or any of the anti-dandruff ones. They usually clear dandruff up well. Just using anything whilst having dandruff will just irritate your scalp more thus causing more dandruff!!

Try something like head and shoulders first. If after a few weeks of using that shampoo doesnt help it clear up then go to the doctors.

You might have an allergy to certain brands of shampoo. I have a sensitive scalp and theres tons of stuff I can't use because it makes me flaky.

Vosene anti dandruff is good too.

like other people have said use an anti-dandruff shampoo such as head and shoulders (i use schwarzkopf supper-soft anti dandruff shampoo because i find that head and shoulders makes my hair greasy
you need to use it EVERYTIME you wash your hair to see a difference

It varies from person to person and also season to season. I have 2 different medications, and I use one on a long stint the other one. Cos I have eczema/dermatitis my doctor prescribes me shampoo. I'm currently on Capasal. I wash every day, and if I do, I never have dandruff or a dry scalp. And never use gel/wax, they are the work of the devil (in terms of damaging your scalp). Anyway, if you do use gel/wax, how can that girl you fancy run her fingers through you hair?

It's dandruff mate. You'd have to rinse your hair terribly badly for it to be dried up shampoo. You know it yourself since you set the topic of the thread.

Neutrogena T-Gel is the most recommended over-the-counter anti-dandruff shampoo out there.

Head and Shoulders is alright to treat dandruff but it's not that efficient. It's a good in-between solution. Your hair will probably look better using H&S than T-Gel but it's just not as effective at treating your scalp.

i have a psorisis/dermatitis problem which leads to me having a flakey scalp. I find a good thing to get rid of it is alphosyl shampoo and also polytar...I just prefer alphosyl.
