Been here for a month, want to tour around a little bit. Any suggestion?

I live in cambridge (didnt go to the university though). I think the city itself is pretty nice, you can have walks by the river et al if you cross over to chesterton area. There are also a few bars within the city centre, also the grand arcade is nice for shopping . Depends what you wanna do anyway

Ely is quite cool, but not in this weather! Explore the colleges if you haven't already. Try to learn punting, which is a laugh. Explore Kettles Yard..
Things are much cooler if you're in the Uni because of the large number of student stuff going on, but that doesn't help you.. um yeh.

yes like Craghyrax says, go to Ely, its really nice there. And actually there are some events that non students can go to, or at least even if they're not allowed they go anyway, i've seen a few non students at the isoc events this week. look for the little poster things around the centre and great saint mary's church, they advertise stuff thats going on.

Yeah I am a student here. Got tired of the campus...
First week or two you feel the view is impressively amzing.
After a month, it's just a small town.
Except walking in the city and go to bars, I really would like to explore more.
Ely sounds like an interesting idea. I went through there once on the train.
Probably will go there for a short visit.

Ely, is pretty. But you couldn't spend a day there (I live there)
But I would also advice that you take a cycle around Cambridge and the villages surrounding it. Failing that there is the swimming pool at Parkside or you could take the train somewhere - perhaps visit Norwich for the day?
To be fair though, I can't think of much to do in Cambridge other than sight seeing (the small church in the town centre on the market sqaure. You can climb up the steep narrow steps to the top of the church which overlooks Cambridge)

Take a wander down Mill Road and see what gems you uncover. Start at the pool and head eastwards, over the railway bridge until you get to Romsey Mill.

Find all the occurrences of the AFD graffiti...it's everywhere when you look for it.

Reply 11

Thanks... I've been to Norwich.
I guess you are right, pretty much nothing more than sight seeing................

Just random graffiti a friend and I noticed around town. Dunno who does it, but it's all over Cambridge (bollards on Free School Lane near Benet's Street, near the Coton cycle path, on the ramp next to John Lewis, near the gate for Emma's North Court). It wasn't a serious suggestion.

Serious suggestion though: Go to Linton zoo. You can get a bus there and it doesn't cost terribly much.

There are quite a few museums around Cambridge - the Fitzwilliam museum is free, or you could take the C7 bus to the IWM Duxford (if you like planes of course)
