whitefields.

Bigger rooms, better location, same money.
How about Whitefields or Rootes?

Rootes. Bigger rooms and worth the extra couple of quid tbh.

TBH Cryfield and Whitefields both aren't fabulous, but here are my preferences if I could only choose between the 3 here: Rootes > Whitefields > Cryfield

Whitefields has a saving grace in that it's even closer to the Union and the shops than Rootes. But everyone can peek inside (like I do inevitably whenever I pass by)!

But I was thinking that perhaps Whitefields might be better, as there are only 12 to a house. I like this because you can a real family unit(assuming you get along with ur flatmates!). With Rootes, the larger number of people may actually make it harder to make friends because it is less close-knit.
Plus, it seems that Roots social life is sooooo good that one might not even be able to concentrate on study as much?!
I am just voicing the type of impressions I have been getting lately, so feel free to disagree, as I do need help as to which accomodation to pick too!
What do you guys think?

This is pasted from other thread:

"just to jump in with my 2p without reading the whole thread, I was in Whitefields last year and I cant see why anyone would want to be anywhere else! The rooms are bigger than i expected, bigger than old rootes and cryfield anyway. Its close to everything, 5 min walk to lectures if that, it's really easy to make friends because you are literally just thrown together, I never ever had to wait for a shower (except when we all went on a paintballing outing together). You get to have wicked good houseparties, you get grouped with similar people to you, its very homely, and on top of that, its the cheapest! You're saving like a grand on Jack Martin/Arthur Vick, even if you've got the money, as it were, just think wot u cld do with that extra grand! oh and the other thing, even though its a 30 week let, i didnt have to take my stuff home once, cos it never gets used for conferences, and you cant always say that for the other places.

Try looking around for accommodation prices at other unis and see how often you get to pay rent this low!

well thats my 2p, im sure theres more but never mind, i wish i was back there!"

basically, havin been there a year and looked at all the other accommodation, i'd definitely pick whitefields everytime, its ****** amazin! seriously, depending on how quiet/loud u like it...theyll put u with the right people.

I had the closest room on the whole campus to the union (flat11A) and i slept like a baby. Go for Whitefields!

Heya!
Is anyone at Westwood or Cryfield? Just wondering whether you have to queue for bathrooms, or have trouble in the kitchen?

It says on the accommodation form I have that theres upto 26 people per bathroom - are the bathrooms big enough for this number of people? I'm assuming bathroom means multiple showers/toilets, rather than per each!

If anyone has any comments about queueing for either of these facilities in any of the halls, would be appreciated - I can't afford to go ensuite!

Thanks!
avoid westwood, they'll be hell with kitchens this year (they've got rid of the WW dining scheme :frown: ). Although I hear bathrooms aren't an issue.

Cryfield also has about 26 to a kitchen and it can sometimes get busy (one of my mates was in cryfield last year) but the bathrooms aren't too bad.
