Open day ... its a joke!
It's a good university, great location and gives the true feeling of working in London - but somehow losses that education atmosphere. Like you I'm also keen on king's but just the open day totally put me off.

What exactly put you off at the open day?

When I went on mine I much prefered it to UCL's open day where everything felt a bit too sterile... :P

Probably the only thing I can complain about is the waterfront bar is a bit too noisy for my liking..can't hear a thing above all the racket

What put you off about the open day, I am a student ambassador so I could give your feedback to the people that run it so they don't accidentally put off more students in the future :s-smilie:

haha is it true that there is rivalry between KCL and Imperial? because the unis are close to each other in terms of location and possibley general reputation arent they?

ooooh are you in tizard/falmouth hall?

Reply 10

Yes there is rivalry (particularly between the med schools).... a lot of my lectures refer to them as the scum across the river

Reply 11

i thought the open day was good, a few timing issues maybe, but better than UCL which was all over the place, half the ambassadors could not tell me where the law department was!

Reply 12

It's not quite LSE either.

Imperial has a much better reputation... that may be the source of the bitterness amongst King's students

So what?
Politics and History at King's are just about as good as or better than LSE's.
No more of this plz.

Yes...
But King's social sciences/law students don't care about that.

I've heard that there's small rivalry between imperial med and king's med. yes.
however, king's and imperial aren't usually considerd rival schools.
Usually, UCL is considered to be King's rival. There's strong rivalry between those two: UCL and King's.

ok, so im planning to make kcl my firm if they give me an offer so just want to hear you guys opinions about it, any things you dislike or like about it? thanks in advance peeps

One thing I really dislike about King's is the size of the intake which leads to huge tutorial groups, few practicals (due to lack of resources) and a ridiculously long wait for them to return assignments. That is really my only problem, everything else is good.

Well, I am doing Biomedical Science, but because of the crossover between courses it really applies to biochemistry, molecular genetics, pharmacology, physiology, human sciences etc.

There was 400 of us in the first year and now my smallest module has about 70 students but most have nearly 200. They keep saying things like 'we used to do three practicals but because there are so many of you we will just put you in a lecture theatre and show you a video'

It is poor to be honest. And they wonder why they are dropping in the league tables. It is very much a research led university and the students seem to come last.

I a bit disenchanted by King's at the moment, so I am emphasising the bad points, there are good things about it too, but as a straight A student I sometimes feel that I should have payed more attention to the league tables when I made my decision.
