Dara O' Briain is a terrible comedian, and I've noticed obvious left-wingerry and anti-social-conservative asides strewn throughout his acts. I saw one sketch where he was laying into conservative Christians, which I didn't find in the least offensive - religion is fair game (however, I bet O' Briain would be the first to assume the moral highground if Roy Chubby Brown or someone of his ilk took the piss out of Muslims or whatever). The only thing which was offensive about this act was its shocking lack of originality. Slagging off the bible belt may have been fresh and funny in the '60s, but today it's just an example of lazy, tired and totally unfunny comedy writing - because it's so easy to take the mick out of Southern Christians' way of life, and it's been done so may times before.
But my dislike of him isn't due to just one routine; I don't think he's made me laugh once out of all the times I've seen him.
His comedy's like that of a slow-witted immature adolescent and quite why he's made it this far is beyond me.
I'd take Paul Merton or Frank Skinner over this jerk any day of the week.
