Dara O' Briain - What a ****

Honestly, I'm watching him on QI now and he's doing his usual 'left-wing politics disguised as comedy' routine. This time, he's ranting about the 'English' occupying Ireland

I really wish decent comedy panel shows wouldn't book him as a guest, he isn't in the slightest bit funny. I can't even stand Mock the Week; the huge chip on his shoulder spoils it.

He's hilarious! It's probably funny if you get over the original offence..why bother getting offended, he's talking about the English (and Scottish) of several generations ago.

It's not just that; he makes constant digs at the Conservatives while brown-nosing Labour. He has a political agenda and he's trying to diguise it as comedy, but fails.
Well agendas aside, I don't find him funny either, and he also doesn't seem to have much screen presence or charisma.

i love dara o'briain. So many comics are political, you can't judge him for expressing his opinions.

Of course I don't; I couldn't care less.
Dara O' Briain is a terrible comedian, and I've noticed obvious left-wingerry and anti-social-conservative asides strewn throughout his acts. I saw one sketch where he was laying into conservative Christians, which I didn't find in the least offensive - religion is fair game (however, I bet O' Briain would be the first to assume the moral highground if Roy Chubby Brown or someone of his ilk took the piss out of Muslims or whatever). The only thing which was offensive about this act was its shocking lack of originality. Slagging off the bible belt may have been fresh and funny in the '60s, but today it's just an example of lazy, tired and totally unfunny comedy writing - because it's so easy to take the mick out of Southern Christians' way of life, and it's been done so may times before.
But my dislike of him isn't due to just one routine; I don't think he's made me laugh once out of all the times I've seen him.
His comedy's like that of a slow-witted immature adolescent and quite why he's made it this far is beyond me.

I'd take Paul Merton or Frank Skinner over this jerk any day of the week.

A vicious circle of "You suck"
"so?"
"so you suck!"
"your point being?"

Anyways

Dara o'brian's political views are a bit transparent but it doesn't detract from his humour for me atleast.

Oh piss off!

If you watch his stand up you'd know he takes the piss out of the irish as any other. He's really funny!

I have nothing against the man, but I don't find him funny either.

Where did he say he didn't like the irish?
I think he's great.

I think L i b was articulating fact rather than expressing opinion :wink2:

You can judge someone for expressing an opinion. QED.
Yeah there are so many comedians -O'Briain, Brigstocke- who are annoyingly leftwing and use their acts to spout their political views -must be why the BBC has them on so much, to further the impartial-as-a-Nazi-newsreel Beeb's political brainwashing. Funny how leftwing comedians never have their political biases mentioned, while rightwing comedians get accused of being 'evil fascist racist b%&tards'...

That said, I do like both Dara and Marcus as funny comedians, until they start getting political

He is a good compere. But yes left wing politics is incredibly boring.
I find him to be an entertaining individual.
