Teacher/pupil relationship?

Im coming up for 18 and in my last year of High school, a new pe teacher has arrived at my school straight from university. Hes a really good friend and talks to me all the time in class. I now realise that im attracted to him and its not the typical 'school girl crush' but i would really fancy him even if i met him outside school. They say u cant have a relationship with your teacher but what is the actual law against it? I was maybe just gonna wait until i finish school officially and pop back a few times to help out and so i can talk to him not as a pupil but a friend.
Ive wrote this all seriously but im totally wanting to find out if anything would be able to happen between us.
Cya guys! :itsme:

He is probably just talking to you as a teacher. In the upper 6th our teachers are more casual in their approach to us but they are still teachers. We see some of them when we are out and they buy us drinks sometimes but no they most deffinatly are teachers. Leave it be.
I think it's actually allowed between sixth formers and teachers... especially if you're 18.

As far as age goes, there's not much wrong with it. You're 18 and he's about 23/24? However the very fact that he's a teacher at your school means anythings happening between you two would jepordise his career entirely.

While you're a student rule out any possibility of romance in your head completely and concentrate on your A levels. Not to dishearten you at all, but your friendly chats could be just that... friendly. Once you've finished school then the story may be different.. but cross that bridge when you come to it.

I was in an almost identical situation 2 years ago and it very nearly cost me my GCSE's... Trust me babe it just ain't worth thinking about it now even though i know that is much easier said than done.... But good luck
No point asking about the law against it unless you care to say where you reside.

I think its ok, being with a 23/24 year old is fine. Just wait till term is over (only 2-3 months left) Good luck

my pe teacher got sacked (''asked to resign'') to avoid publicity when he had an affair with an 18 yr old 6 former so he left the school and 2 yrs later apparantly they r still tog

as a law student, there isnt any law against it at all. however the school may well ask him to resign due to it being unprofessional, and he'll have very little choice. if he refuses, his reference will make him out to be a paedophile. does he feel the same?i'd say leave it till u leave school, then make a move etc at the leaving drinks/dinner/ball

agreed. in 6 form, teachers treat u as mates. when we go to the pub if we see them in the evening, they have a drink with us/dance with us, have a laugh together but whether or not they see us as 'mates' or people they'd fancy is totally seperate.my chem teacher gave everyone her moby no, she was our frind, came out with us, went to ppls 18th birthdays etc but still was the teacher.check carefully to see if he thinks of you tlike that

wait til you've finished school then it's definitely not wrong
I seem to remember being told that there have been changes to the laws making it a criminal offence for any teacher to have an intimate relationship with a student, regardless if they are a former student.

Erm, to be honest with you, as a few of the people have said, the chances of you actually hitting it off whilst he's your teacher are low. I know that the age difference isn't a problem for either of you to have an actual relationship, however, the fact that he IS your teacher is against the law and a sackable offense for both of you. If you really did decide that you wanted to be together, one of you would have to leave... I think. I know many people have given the same sort of response but hey.
as you're over 18 then no it's not illegal however there may be terms within his contract which prevent him from being in a relationship with a student and this may hold for a year or so after the student leaves so if someone were to find out then he would get the sack for breach of contract and if it got out he may have trouble finding a job...not a good thing for any teacher let alone newly qualified teacher.
what signs does he show to make you think he fancies you? as he's new he may just be trying to make friends with you all....but if he does like you more than that then i agree wait til your exams are over in 3months and suggest a thank you drink or sth innocent that can soon turn into what you want it to be! good luck with him and hope it works out....some of the pe teachers are v v sexy almost would make me want to do it for a level...!!
In Scotland I think teachers are by contract not allowed to have any form of relationship whether it be a friendship or more than that, with a pupil for 3 years since they last taught the pupil i.e. when the pupil left the school. However, naturally this applies to an age over 18 I would imagine.
yes there is a law against it, but only if the student is under 16. there is a provision for 16/17 yr olds but not 18 yr olds. (see attached law from legal database WESTLAW to see the law about this)

however, yea it might be in the contract employmet not allowing it, hence brech of contract if he sleep with you.

check that he does fancy you first

Defiantly don’t do it, at my old school my friend (a sixth former) was caught with an I.T teacher in a classroom and both of them were told to leave the school, which meant she couldn’t do her exams and she was expected to get really good grades!!!! I would just wait!! Then at least you will know if he’s worth it!
Luv gem x x
it's always the PE teachers..

That's exactly what i was about to say!

Two PE teachers have been sacked/'asked to leave' - one of them was with a current 6th former, the other with one that'd just left. I think you'd find that, whether it's actually illegal or not, it would do his career serious damage. Having said that i believe our deputy head married one of his ex-6th formers (although i think that it was some years later...). And one of the guys in my year went out with the receptionist - but i guess since they were an even closer age, and not a teacher, no one could say anyting much (it was talk of the entire school for quite a while though)
