I'm interested in this as well. Also, is it possible to go from being a student in the general course to a full time LSE student?

According to this, yes it is. About half of the people who apply to do it are successful.

I'm interested in the competitiveness also, but haven't found anything online. A number of these threads in the tsr archives, but none seem to have gotten any response. Anyone know what should be addressed in the PS for the general course?

nyapp, the only question I could address would be high school grades, which I'd doubt they'd address as they say they don't care about them for full time us applicants.

Im a general course, and yes, it is possible. You'll get told about the possibility of transferring once you get into the program (they'll ask for a 2.1 while at the lse and give you the offer at the end of the year)

around 3.7

I don't think it is very important though.

The earlier you apply, the better. As far as I remember admissions are on a rolling basis.
