can you apply to UCL and Kings?

I am in year 12 and wanting to do law. I have been looking at uni's and like the look of both UCL and Kings but preferring Kings. However i have heard they are rival uni's and i know that you cannot apply to Oxford and Cambridge and wondered whether it is the same with UCL and Kings.

Thank you in advance

thank you

which would you reccomend is better. All i have on the uni's is what i have read on the website and the 2009 prospectus. 2010 not out yet and obviously not been to any open days.
Neither is "better". For law, there really is virtually no difference between the two. The best thing to do is first apply and then see if you are lucky enough to receive offers from both universities, and make your decision after that. Visit them both and see which one you like the best.

I'd apply to KCL if you are religious. That's how I got in.

I thought you got in because you're amazing and better than any other TSRian?

Scholastic activities Very Desirable
We look for applicants with an enthusiasm for scholastic activities in general such as reading, debating, theological interests etc. Participation will be valued but achievement in these areas of interest will also be recognised. We are also looking for applicants with an enthusiasm to study a law degree programme and have thought through their reasons for considering this subject option. The King’s degree programme focuses on the study of law as an intellectual discipline. Law may be regarded as a social science, a branch of ethics or as part of political philosophy, and all of these perspectives are explored within the learning environment of King's. It also can form the first major step towards qualifying for practice as a solicitor or barrister. Applicants outside of the UK should indicate why they particularly wish to study English law.

Community activities Desirable
We look for applicants who have participated as fully as possible in school, college or community life, making the most of the opportunities available to them and also demonstrated some experience of society beyond their immediate environment.

General activities/interests Desirable
We look for applicants who have varied extra-curricular interests and enjoy active participation in areas such as sport, music and the arts in general. Participation will be valued but any achievement in extra-curricula activities will also be recognised. King’s aspires to recruit applicants who will continue with their personal interests and contribute to the vitality of the College community.

Paid or voluntary work Desirable
Although we do not require applicants to have been in paid or voluntary employment, we welcome applications from those with any experience of legal work experience.

Interviewing
Are interviews offered? Yes Are all applicants interviewed? No. Only candidates deemed to be borderline or from non-traditional academic backgrounds may be called for interview. Are all those made an offer interviewed? No. The majority of admissions decisions are made on basis of information provided on UCAS application form. What form does it take? 20 minute interview with Admissions Tutor and one other member of staff What is considered at interview? Communication skills particularly in analysis and debate. Enthusiasm for the law degree programme. Exploring aspects of interviewee’s UCAS application form, particularly the Personal Statement.
Yes you can. I did and got accepted into UCL (7th best uni on the planet), but rejected by their underlings (Strand poly *spits*).

Of course you can.
They don't work like Oxford and Cambridge, even though there's also a bitter rivalry between UCL and King's.

thank you everyone for the comments. I am thinking of applying to both but live a long way from london so visiting both the open days will be very expensive. However i do believe i need to get a feel for both and look round both. I am wanting to do Law LLB and currently from what i have read would choose Kings over UCL but that could change once i have visited the open days.

KCL's a dump, you don't wanna go there. :ninja:

I mean:

UCL (7th best uni on the planet - THES)

KCL (Strand poly)

Plus, UCL, I believe, is better for Law. Don't let the King's lot tell you otherwise.

P.S. There is absolutely no bias here. :ninja:

For Law, they're similar in terms of reputation/prestige. (I personally would go for UCL though, just because it has better overall reputation.)
So you should visit both.

to the OP you can apply to both!

also, the pics are biased, the UCL law department is about 5 roads away

haha. it's just the library though, but as a person who'd have a lot to study, I would have to stay there forever.
UCL's main building looks better tbh.
