Didn't know Karma fell in to the SimonM 'purity' bracket

By the way. I just wrote a long post on the maths forum about the objectivity of maths. I sense impending SimonM crit on its way..

:p: Yeah, I thought about responding to it, noticed that you duly noticed our PM conversation, thus rendering my planned response boring. So I didn't read it in too much detail. I'll do that now

better to the extent that I can be owned by a NatSci (no offence)

As far as I know it's been one bottle between two in formal for a while, but they don't check on the door, so as long as you keep some under the table and don't appear too drunk, it's fine. I've heard they might be enforcing it more strictly next term though.

:p: Fix'd now, thank you very much

I'm probably reaching beyond my limits here, but I must diverge. Is it definitely π2\pi^2?

That's harsh. Where I originally posted it to the request an avatar it was correct (except the n/k issue, which I fixed). Anyway, its just a picture ffs :p:

Meh, I've had enough trouble in the maths forum for one day. I never thought I'd see an Elizabethan making an arse out of themself talking about 0.9999...

Lol, I claimed your cyclic and symetric series stuff has no applications.

Don't worry about it. There is much more to maths than notation. It doesn't really have any applications. Writing stuff according to conventions is just useful for clarity.

I thought that might be the case, but didn't want a NatSci to be the only person to spot an error. Fixing it has made it look neater too.

Good luck to everyone btw.

Thanks. Are you already at Christ's (if so which subject) otherwise are you applying (if so which subject)?
