Hmm, I guess I will have to stick to sneaking then :ninja:. It is the debates and speakers I would be interested in, so it's good to know that the opportunity for this is there for non lawyers, even if will require money or stealth :ninja2:.

You can just walk in for the speakers, really. The issue is finding out about them but any lawyer will have recieved about 100000 e-mails off the Law Fac secretary every day, one of which will include any Law Soc speakers and can forward/tell you  There are also posters in the Law Fac which is close to economics, I think, so you could probably pop in on the way back to Christ's to have a look.

btw, thanks to all the students who helped out on the open day on Friday. There were loads of you! especially mathmos. The second year mathmo to whom I spoke was very helpful.
Hey guys,

Quick question: are graduate students (members of the college, naturally) allowed to attend JCR or other undergraduate events and vice-versa?
Thanks

I've not really seen any at any of our events. In theory, I'm pretty sure MCR members can't use the JCR (though absolutely nothing stops them) and aren't meant to come to our events. Equally, JCR members can't go into the MCR (we are stopped from this - you need a key) and we can't go to your events. But, in reality, if you wanted to go to JCR events, I doubt people would stop you. The exception would be voting on JCR stuff and attending Open Meetings.

Other societies and stuff are fine though  CC Law Soc invites all grad lawyers to every event and the women's badminton team this year had more grad players than undergrad.

I think, as you said before, that the conversation needed to move here.
I've requested to join that facebook group, but the admin must all be away or ignoring me :colone:

HALLOOOO  Excited? Not excited? Scared out of your wits?

Well actually, the truth is that I told the admin that we don't want any more medics, so she was like okay *reject*.
I'm kidding  They're probably busy. I'm not sure how they know if someone is a fresher at the college or just some random person now thinking about it. xD

To make things worse on the postal front, I called up UCAS while track was not updating to change my postal address.
What happened?
The person at UCAS wrote down the WRONG POSTAL ADDRESS.
UGH. So now, I will never get any of my post.

Like I said, it is possible they're just going to leave it in your Pidge. They did that for my year. Of course, all the internationals were then *really* annoyed that they didn't have welcome packs while every UK student did so possibly they decided not to repeat that idea...

Ask one of the fresher's reps. They should, hopefully, know.

The admissions tutor implied that things would be sent via post because she told me that they can't send the fresher's packs via email due to the bulk, but everything else she would try to do. (So I'm hoping that means that stuff will be sent to me)

I will ask on the fresher's page on FB at the risk of sound like an idiot.

It will be post. But they may leave internationals in the college. As I said, in my year, every international had to wait till they got to college.

You won't sound like an idiot  My friend started at Oxford this year and, in his pack, got stuff for German students and students in wheelchairs (he's welsh and not disabled). He asked on his college page and it turned out a lot of people were equally confused but had all been to embarrassed to ask

Excited, most definitely  How about you?
Ha, they've accepted me today - although I'm yet to make my first post. They probably just assume that non-freshers wouldn't waste their own time, slightly dangerous move.

Oh dear, I don't know about for other courses (by the way, which course are you doing) but the medics have been sent a pack of various things including a reading list and some stuff about code of conduct. Try and inform the college, maybe they an sort it out. . .

*Sigh*
What can I say... it's Oxford.

On a more serious note, I'm not that worried  The only thing I would like to get is my reading list and either find out who my personal tutor or email the DoS/any other person who could help me about choosing one of my options this year.

If I don't get it within a week or so, I'll email the college directly and ask
As long as my second batch of grades go well, I'll be applying to Christ's for maths

hahaha, good. Now post! Unless you're the medic that already posted, in which case, yay!

I'm doing Natural Sciences (applied for Chemical Engineering though).

Thanks for letting me know about the post! I'm going to wait a week or so. I'm sending my post to an address in the UK and one of my mum's friends who is coming to the Middle East in the next week is going to bring it back. I'll wait to see if he's got it, otherwise I'll grovel to the admissions tutor and beg her to scan it to me and send it via email.

I'll just assume the reading list is the same as the one on the website.

And I am excited, scared, happy - everything  all at once! Looking back a couple of years ago, I would never have imagined I'd be going to Cambridge  So, very happy !

I am indeed that medic who already posted

Ah, how did that come about then with the change in subject? Natural sciences looks like a really diverse course, I wouldn't have minded doing that.

I'm not sure what you natsci's are going to get, the majority of my stuff was pertaining to ethics and code of conduct - you guys just have to abide by the law

I was so shocked when I got an offer to begin with, I made sure that there was no chance of me missing it! I'd never even considered Cambridge until late on in my AS year.

I was in Spain during results day and the only board to give me an online login was edexcel so all I have are my maths, further maths and chemistry results. I have Physics, History and Spanish left.

I AM SO JEALOUS OF YOU!
