A contact of mine at Christ's mentioned a while back they don't do those matriculation offers anymore.

Fair enough, that would be why there was no mention of it on the website

Just out of interest, did anyone get the fabled EE offer this year (or ever)?

I received an EE offer in 2002. No idea whether they still do them now though.
there are current freshers that had EE offers, 2 mathematicians and a medic that I know of. for maths they certainly will give an EE offer to someone who does fantastic at interview, I think they are normally given for science subjects

Yes, these do happen. Know someone who had one a few years ago.
This thread has been dead a bit too long! I think us Christ-ian (or whatever the appropriate term is ) offer holders need to have a chat, so I'll get the ball rolling: what attracted you to Christ's in the first place?

For me, there were a number of things. First of all, the central location appealed to me, but the guarantee of on- or near-site accommodation for all three years was also enticing (I'm very lazy! The fact that I hate bikes, and intend to never use one if I do meet my offer, might also be a factor!). What sealed the deal was stepping in at the main gate on the open day; it really is so quiet. I love the circular lawn and first court in general.
Yeah, an accumulation of factors really. Quite direct route to and from train station, largely central but just detached from the business of it all, less likely to get swamped by tourists, nice grounds.

Plus it's at the top of the list alphabetically.

How far away is the Sidgwick Site and is it really as the "Cambridge College Pros and Cons" guide suggests?

It says:

"Cons:
arts students: wrong side of town for the arts faculties on the Sidgwick site (actually not far, but not as close as many other colleges)."

Is a bike desirable?

Map

15 minute walk maybe. It's comfortably under a mile. Much further than a few colleges, pretty similar to/slightly further than most, and noticeably closer than some.

I know people that cycled similar distances, but most walked. I wouldn't fancy cycling in Cambridge (too many cars that get worryingly close, too many other bikes, etc.), but it would give you a few minutes of extra sleep. You might find that a bike is useful if you do certain sports, and it might be a good idea to have one just in case you need to rush somewhere. Don't bring an expensive bike though (http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/News/Bike-theft-in-Cambridge-is-out-of-control-police-boss-says-05032013.htm).

Harr's right. Sidgwick site is about 15 mins walk. 20 at most (if you're like me in exam term and you're dragging your feet at the thought of week 6 of revision in the library). Friends of mine have managed 10 minutes when running late for lectures.

Cycling apparently takes 7 minutes at most. It's up to you if you want it. Personally, I never saw a use for it: the most I ever had to regularly walk was 25 minutes once a fortnight in first year (supervisions in Fitz). (I occasionally had to walk for longer to play other colleges in badminton). That being said, plenty of my friends opted to cycle so it's really a matter of personal preference.
Had a slight panic this morning.
Accommodation for the first year, do we have to apply or are we allocated a room in college automatically?
It's automatically allocated, according to the email the admissions tutor sent a little while ago. Don't worry

Edit: There's a full paragraph with all the details here.

Thanks, that's quite a relief. I suddenly remembered about my insurance accommodation deadline (and only then it's because they sent an email reminding me), and I wasn't sure if Christ's was also going to have a similar hissy fit.

Hi all,

I have no idea if this question is utterly obsolete because somebody asked it already, but are there extra forms to be filled out (aside from the SAQ) for Christ's, when applying? My sister got them for Corpus Christi, and another friend for Jesus, so I'm just trying to be safe rather than sorry.

Thanks
Has anyone received an invitation for an interview yet? (especially for computer science)
