My exam was close to 100% so I pulled it off. I just had a good day I guess.

I didn't get less than an 'A*' for any piece of English-oriented work throughout the GCSE period. Really speaking, it was a complete doss.

That said, our teacher arbitrarily invented an 'A*-' classification, to denote "A* borderline" work. He also set us essays at twice-monthly intervals: I must've had at least fifty eligible English courseworks by the conclusion of my 2003 Summer term. Suffice to say, come that time, rival sets were pickled a quite lurid shade of green.
who repped me????????????? thanks but who was it?
PM whoever it was

Hey my fellow forumers (if that's a word, please don't penalise me if it's not beacuse of the thread title lol). I was just wondering if it is possible to get an A* for English Language if I only have an A in the coursework folder. I have an A* for my literature coursework folder so I'm not too concerned about that at the minute, however I was just wondering if it is possible to get my language to that level too in the exams.

Any help and suggestions are appreciated. I have an A* for all of my Speaking & Listenings and I'm doing the Edexcel course if it helps.

Thanks a lot

simple answer to your question: YES!!!!!
you can definitely get an A* in English Language GCSE even if you dont get that grade in coursework

personally, i was lucky since I went in with A* coursework, and yes, it is near impossible with a C or D grade to get an A*(but with a C or D you can certainly aim for an A) but if you get an A or even a B in coursework, you have a chance.

just try your best...you get some marks whatever grade you get in coursework - putting it another way, you'll never go into the exam with nothing!

if anyone has any questions, PM me

I'm quite chuffed with my coursework marks (just got em back yesterday!), except I really f*cked up on one of the Literature courseworks on Gothic Stories (I got complacent, left it till late, thus, it was sh*te!).

For English Language, apparently it's marked out of 3 components, I got:

19/20 - for my coursework: "A Life In the Day Of"

20/20 - for my coursework on "Conflict and Violence in William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet".

20/20 - for something I don't really understand, because my teach started to ramble!

Overall English Lang Cwk: 59/60 - A*

Then for Literature:

45/45 - for my "17th Century Poetry" coursework.

But then, I f*cked up bad on the Gothic (godammit! So pissed off!), and got:

36/45 - for "The Red Room and The Signalman".

I still managed to scrape an A* though, so twas OK. But I'm gonna be down on the Literature side of things, even though I value it more than the Language!

I haven't got my Speaking marks I don't think yet, but I'm predicted A/A* I think. I've got A*s in all my individual speechs and presentations, It's just I don't work that well verbally within a group - and I got a B in one group presentation.

You should be fine getting an A* in Lang, if you've got an A in the Coursework aspect. Absolutely fine.

Welcome.

How many rep points do you have now?

As for your study leave, it's quite short though. In addition, it's lucky that you have a half day though, as I don't.

Rep points just shows how many people gave you points. The more posts the person has and reps you, you get more points and vice versa. Read the FAQ for more details: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/faq.php?faq=usermain#faq_reput
