difference between normal and a tangentWatch

Hiya sorry my minds gone blank

Whats the difference when it says

find an equation of the tangent to the curvee and

find an equation of the normal to the curve!

they're perpendicular..

Tangent is the line that touches the curve at one point.

Normal is 90 degrees to that line, so the gradient of the normal would be -1/m, where m is the gradient of the tangent.
