The Student Room Group
I really wouldn't worry about it. Magic Mushrooms are soft soft drugs (obv they don't HELP your health) but they are practically legal over here. I doubt very much he will become addicted to shroom and start dealing them....but in a place such a thailand he's obv just experimenting......when he gets back just tell him you are concerned....he won't have to kick a habit or anything.
its fine as long as he doesn't 'move on' to something else.

Magic mushrooms are legal in the UK as long as they are not prepared in anyway (eg drying, freezing, made into soup, a dash of red pepper with a sprig of parsley on top and a light vinegerette dressing...etc...etc), so theyre not really that dangerous to you physically, but I've heard stories of people having 'bad trips' that can affect you mentally/emotionally. I'm not talking serious damage here but just the same as having any other bad experience would do (getting lost in the supermarket as a child for example), so there isnt too much to worry about. A bad trip usually puts people off them anyways, and because they arent addictive (as far as im aware) you can get put off them as many people who took food tech in my year were put off McDonalds after watching a vid on how theyre made!!! Hope I've been a help.

i imagine that almost certainly it'll be jut while he's out there - nothing's the same when you return from a holiday!

My boyfriend did quite a lot of drugs (much worse than 'shrooms!) while he was in india a coulpe of years ago, and hasn't touched them since! it's just the circumstances you're in - the environment and the people.

so i really wouldn't worry  (but when he comes back if you are still concerned make it clear that you don't like it. my boyfriend was cool with it)
you build up a tolerance to shrooms pretty quickly so I doubt he'll be ocntinuing when he gets back. Maybe every now and then he might, but I doubt he would have a "habit" as such.

I really hope that he doesn't continue when he gets back. I went out clubbing with my friends once and they decided to do some. I didn't. They were the most annoying i've ever seen them - it's so not fun if you're not experiencing what they are. I really do think that environment effects your decisions - for example i might try them when i go to amsterdam in the summer - but i wouldn't do them here. xx
