Primark - whats the pay like?

Hi, I have an interview at Primark tomorrow, and a few others lined up fr later in the week.

just wondering what they pay at Primark? It will be the Mancehster branch if that helps. Do you get extra for working Sunday?

Thanks!

Well i work in a primark in west midlands, its a fairly small store compared to some others and our pay is £4.07 for under 18s and (gladly) £5.73 for 18s and over. and nope we dont get extra for working sundays - but thts better cos saturdays are too busy.
However wages may vary depending on size and location of the store

It will be minimum wage, but theres nothing wrong with that just concentrate on doing well in the interview I doubt it will be very complex just be confident and good luck.

5.33 over 18s in bolton
I'm guessing it's not great

A girl i knew worked there and the pay was rubbish. But its better than having no job at all.

It depends on the store. I work at Birmingham New Street store and I earn £6.02 and I'm only 19. Some companies with "satisfactory" working environment (better than Primark in other words) like River Island and New Look might pay £5.80 or something like that.
If it helps I used to work in Meadowhall branch and I got paid £5.87 per hour and I was still 19 then. Might be lower depending if you are under 18 as well, which might be £3-4 something (this answer is based on one of the Meadowhall Sheffield staff who is 17; who gets £4.47 per hour).

Oh and you get paid monthly - not weekly or daily.

On Sunday I'm not sure. I work on weekends now and I still get the same rate as Saturday. You will get extra for working bank holidays (and probably overtime) though.

we dont get paid extra for overtime just the nomal rate and weekend staff only get paid 1-2% extra on normal rate for working bank holidays. i just got my first month wage can honestly not remember what hours i've worked so best to write it down

You HONESTLY don't know how many hours you've worked? :hmmm:

Have you got your contract, or like most people - lost it? :p:

i've got my contract contracted to 4 hours on sat and then been doing lots of overtime so cannot remember what hours but know some rough estimates. on my first payslip the date is 10th sep and it says 43 hours does this include all the hours i've worked to the 10th or is it to the friday before which is the 3rd as i'm sure i worked more hours

Its to the Friday before. Your (or should I say our) next payslip is every 4 weeks on a Friday which will be 8 October (I think) and you will get paid for working on the 10 September when it was payday, if that makes any sense?
I'm pretty sure they all pay more than minimum wage?
When I worked in one in North London it was
£4.37 under 18's and £5.93 for over.

Yes its included I think. And yes I know what you mean that its confusing. It was for the first few months last year. I need to get paid every 2 weeks when I get paid every month that all goes to bills, food, rent, books etc etc...:s-smilie:

Actually retail pays pretty well. I worked in River Island over Christmas and the wage was surprisingly well above minimum wage! Most high shops are like this. I am surprised Primark pays so badly.
