Don't use the Nivea one, in the gold-ish coloured bottles! It makes you more orange than Jodie Marsh, streaks like a bitch, and stinks to high heaven!

the boots soltan mousse is pretty good. just make sure you wear gloves and moisturise/exfoliate properly first. you can also get boot 17 corrective wipes- great to have around if you have an emergency! they just blend all your tan nicely

Any advice would be appreciated here - best brands, wipes/mousse/spray etc.

mercy buckets

(sorry if this is the wrong forum - there are just so many to choose from!) :p:

best bet is to go to one of those booths where they spray you. However if you can't afford that the *best* brand is St Tropez. But I can't afford that either, i just use Benefit Hoola bronzing powder instead.

merci beaucoup perhaps.

Do not! I repeat do not use wipes! They are terrible. They just make it all streaky and horrible. Sprays better but i'd say the best is mousse. Not sure about brands though. Maybe Piz Buin?

yeh cool - thats the thing - i was using these wipe ones - they're really good, nice colour etc but i always have a problem with my hands - how are you supposed to do ur hands? lol

I love not having to bother with fake tan  *Exits thread to avoid being pelted with empty fake tan bottles*

I generally hate fake tan on girls. They always end up looking like oompah loompahs. If you must , I am really pale and so it always shows up if i do it badly so I use 'Rimmel Sun shimmer face and body bronzer self tan gel' What a mouthful! It goes on clear as gel and then bronzes over a period of time.

they're not a tanning wipe- they're a corrective one for after the mousse/spray you use, it just blends any streaks you might have... i hardly ever use them but often have them just in case! (no idea how they work)

keep so very far away from tanning wipes...I've used expensive ones, cheap ones, new ones, recommended ones...none of them came out smoothly or un-orange.
sorry, that dosent really help much, does it? :-p

yep gel is best  mousse looks good at first but then goes all patchy when its fading.

to do hands cover the palms of your hand with moisturiser, then do your hands all over, then rub the palms of your hands and between fingers on a towel.

i hate putting fake tan on :frown:

St Tropez mousse, its easy to put on, doesnt go orange and dries quickly. Although its 25 quid a bottle

As for ur hands, use a small amount and mix it with moisturiser as ur hands react much stronger to it than the rest of ur body (along with feet)

I have just bought Clinic mouse... I was told that it is better than St Tropez.. haven't used it yet though.

Anyone here who reads Vogue will know that a deep than is a massive no-no this season, just thought that may be good news to some of you.

can I just add that there's nothing worse than those mega tanned, two-toned bleach/black haired girls who ruin all the trends that *rather* stylish celebrities start (Jennifer Lopez's blingness/Sienna Miller's boho vibe). I've just seen one and it annoys me so much!

The problem with fake tan is it doesnt last very long, and last time I tried it it looked like I had poured ketchup on my knees - not a very nice look
