I like Pandamonium personally, you can hit places like Font Bar, Footage etc before ending up there.

Thanks  So what exactly is Pandamonium? And are all the places you've mentioned near each other? Which street are they on?

Pandamonium is what's on on Tuesdays at the Zoo. The link I gave you says what's on where on Tuesdays, and they all have maps on them if you click on them. Clubs are scattered everywhere, but there's huddles of them near Piccadilly (the Printworks - Tiger Tiger, Birdcage, Opus), on Oxford Road (Font Bar, Odder Bar, Space, the Footage, Zoo), there's Deansgate a bit further on from Oxford Road (Baa Bar, Area 51, Revolution) there's 5thAve for your Indie on Princess Street I believe. And there's too many bars to list in Fallowfield, which is where UoM students are nearer to. Most places have quite a random play of music so there's something for everyone really.

Thankyou that's all really helpful! Just one more question, the friend I am going with is 18 but I am using someone else's ID, they look quite like me, just wondering if the clubs and bars are particularly strict on this kind of thing?

Some are, some aren't. Just be prepared to walk away and try elsewhere if they get ratty. I like font and footage as a starting point

Yeah they're strict. I think there's been only one club that didn't ID me; I have been everywhere, every other time. And I've been out in Manchester for 2 years, since I was 18! So I hope your mate's ID looks similar enough, because there's the possibility it could get confiscated.

Eek, hopefully it will be ok, I'm not bothered if I don't get in I just don't want it to get taken away from me! Around here, even at the big clubs like Liquid, they just give your ID a quick look to see if you're old enough.. I once got in to Oceana using an ID that looks nothing like me! Guessing it's a bit more strict in Manchester..?
There are quite a few bars near the Uni on Oxford Road and the surrounding areas but I'd be careful with the ID. Don't go to 5th Ave, the bouncers will destroy it in front of you, I'm telling ya! You'll be pretty safe with the random little bars and places like Baa Bar. Avoid Printworks (Tiger Tiger, Pure, Opus) and The Birdcage as they clamp down pretty tightly on ID. Mind you, they're probably much more lax on Tuesdays as I've only ever been on Fridays and Saturdays.
I always have a really good time on Canal Street (gay village) and Baa Bar is right near there on Princess Street

Thanks for the advice!! What is Baa Bar like, and what other places would be more safe for the ID? From the advice given in this thread, I was thinking we could go to Font bar and Footage and then on to Pandomonium at Zoo or possibly Missionary at Space (because I love dnb and dubstep). What do you think these places would be like about the ID? You probably won't have a clue if you're already 18 but any info would be appreciated

We took a lad into Font and Footage when he was 17. There was a fairly large group of us though, we just said that he was an international student so didn't have any ID yet

Hmm, at the end of the day, the only thing you can do is try! If you do get ID'd, just walk away briskly to avoid any further embarassment lol.
The only place I went to before I turned 18 was Canal Street and most places there aren't too bad, especially Spirit and Bar Below.
If you can't get in anywhere, go to Edward's near Picadilly Gardens. It isn't amazing but it's really cheap, I think a bottle of wine is about £6.50 (Y)
Erm, I dunno about Pandemonium, but i know Missionary does ID everybody, but the bouncers are alright - not idiots like some of them can be.
Yeah, go to Missionary, I always have a really good night there .

Thanks to everyone for the advice, we had a good night last night although everyone we met told us Tuesday night is the quietest night of the week! We went to Font bar, Footage, Zoo and the Attic (think it's called that anyway) and only got ID'd in Footage - result! Wish we went to 42s though, that's where everyone told us to go, but we couldn't be bothered to walk there :frown: I loved the city so much! But at the open day today I found out the course really doesn't suit me, no clue what to do now.
