I'm not sure what my numbery things are: but I know that I'm longsighted: which basically means my whole world is blurry unless I consciously focus - which quite often results in the headache from hell! I also have astigmatism. All in all, I'm very blind! lol.

I think I'm -3.5 and -3.75. So unfair - my brother has perfect eyesight

Reply 25

Right eye = -2.25
Left eye = -3

My friend's sister is -10 in both eyes! And I feel blind and lost enough without my glasses...

Reply 26

Reply 28

mines -3.5, -3.5

Reply 29

-3.75 in my left eye and -4 in my right. So I voted 4-5.

Reply 30

-0.5 in one eye and -0.25 in the other. I don't really need them...but I feel more comfortable driving with them- I like the extra second or two I gain when reading signs.

how do you find out? my optician never tells me! :-s I'm really bad at remembering to wear my glasses, I wasnt diagnosed for years and years so I got used to the world as I see it :-) I think a soft focus is pretty :-p

Its on your prescription when you have your eyes tested
Mine are -5 in the left and -5.5 in the right :frown:

Reply 34

Well I can't say I bothered to memorize my prescription. I'm slightly astigmatic, so who knows.

Reply 35

I cant understand the numbers on my perscription... can anyone translate??

Right Eye
Sph -05
Cyl +08
Axis 90

Left Eye
Sph -05
Cyl +16
Axis 90

I went to the opticians yesterday, I currently have one VERY weak pair of reading glasses... he says I'll need to wear these almost ALL the time... can anyone tell me what the numbers/letters mean??

NB: His writing is really bad so the 5's might be 4's and the 16 might be and 18... oh, and the 2nd 90, could be a 95...

Laser eye surgery?

my optician actually said i was unsuitable because of the strength of my shortsightedness...thats all he said and ive looked around the net and the maximum is around -9.

also to have laser surgery your eyes need to have stayed the same for 2 years or something like that. well in yr 9, it was around -6, -7 yr10, yr12 -9, yr13 havent checked. rnt i doing well? :frown: feels like im gonna be blind when im still young

Reply 37

i only recently got glasses, though i've had a problem for a few years, i'm around -6 i think, i only remember having a quick glance of the prescription

Reply 38

Found my prescription

sph + 0.25 Cyl 2.75 Axis 10 out on one eye,
sph infinity Cyl 0.5 Axis 160 out on the other.

Don't wear glasses but know i'll need them eventuallly due to astigmatism :frown:
