Imperial College London - social life!

well, i dunno about other courses at Imperial, but if this week's RAG roadshow pics are anything to go by, medics there sure know how to um, get drunk and do LOTS of horrific things to themselves and other people involving vomit, milk, razors, dummies, cots, curry, thongs......

oh you havent seen the pics on facebook! my retinas are forever scarred with images of some poor bloke stripped, tied to a table and had curry poured over him. or the guys from each major sports club sat in thongs with a dummy in their mouths while someone shaved their heads. or the guy who drank the union president bowel contents from a cup. or the guy who drank a pint of vomit. or the guys who competed to drink as much GM milk as poosible, based on how much they looked like the milky bar kid....

those pics were NOT amazing. i'm glad i saw them from a safe distance tbh lol.

and i didint even know it was sports night tonight. oh wait it's weds isnt it. hmmm. was it at beit quad? da vinci's? or whatever the hell it's called?

i had rehearsal and no1 told me about it :frown:

while I think it's perfectly fine and have had a lot of fun during my four years, cmon it's london, i've heard some bad stuff from people coming from other unis. One of my mate having studied three years in warwick said that having been at imperial for 2 months he though he might as well just sit down and do some work as after having been there there's nothing for him here. I don't really agree though sure you can have great fun at Imperial and there are cool people to go around, still I can't help to wonder how I would've had it at another uni =D

You can have fun at imp, but compared to other unis, its about 10x harder to do.

I'm not really worried that there won't be like minded people etc and that you can't have a social life, as has been said you're in London after all.
I'm more worried about whether I'd be able to find time for a good social life.. is it doable while maintaining decent grades? :smile:

Ok so i couldnt be bothered to read the whole 3 pages of discussion, but i read the first few posts and got the gist of it. There are plenty of normal ppl at Imperial...or at least there will be - look how many ppl are having the same concerns as u. well if we all go then therll be lots of normal ppl theere wont there.

god...reading this thread it seems I'm going to need to do a lot more TSR scouring to get the bottom of life at ICL. I see it as a place with so very many positives yet so many negatives, that would offer a totally different experience to say Bristol, Warwick etc. How fair would that be?
