A-Level Economics - AQA/OCR/Edexcel/WJEC

Do you find the board you take difficult in any ways? Edexcel? OCR? AQA?

AQA has multiple choice and data response, and Unit 3 has options of Leisure, Environment and Housing Market... Unit 4 European Union Case study Report writing...

OCR has just data response and structured questions in AS Unit 1 2 3, no mutliple choice. However there is ample choice with , Development and UK Economy and Transport and Economics of Work and Leisure as well as the stimulus material for European Union in Context pre released, which is what the exam could be based on.

Edexcel has multiple choice and data response, very similar to AQA in AS, Unit 4 Industrial even has multiple choice, but the Global Economy paper with Essay questions worth 40 and 60 marks it's quite a thing.

ORC was brilliant. Most of the material that I covered was in my first year and part of my second year economics at university.

I'm doing OCR as a private candidate, I find the AS papers to be very straightforward. However looking at it overall, Edexcel is alittle hardcore in A2, and AQA does the EU Report Case Study, thus OCR Economics is the best out of them all imo

The choice between Transport Economics and The Economics of Work & Leisure. The UK Economy is interesting as is the choice between Development Economics.

There's no tricky multiple choice, which is nice, the data response is not too difficult. Did you gain your A and B grades?

How did you find OCR Economics in Context?

What did you find most challenging in OCR Economics?

Shaun what university did you gain admission to?

I'm in Lancaster University studying Management (2nd year). Majoring in Economics and taking 6 modules of Economics in my final year, really trying to get more depth in the area as in A levels I didn't care nor revise.

If you are doing OCR, in my view it is easy to gain a better grade doing the UK economy than development

Richard Young, your blog is quite interesting, and relevant to OCR  I totally agree I'm studying the UK Economy and friends who are taking Devleoplment Economics find it very challenging. The Economics of Work and Leisure is more interesting than Transport Economics too.

I was on OCR and I think it was really good. No issues with them, or exam structures what so ever.

I got my A!

I think OCR is really good in context and applies a lot to real life so they dont teach you useless crap. Most challenging was defo the last paper, The Global Economy. But I think they know this because the grade boundaries are always really low. Mostly because it's such a huge syllabus to cover and you dont really know what parts are gonna come up from looking just at the source material.

I got into my firm of Liverpool to do BSc Economics.

I have completed my AS Levels in Edexcel and will be taking my Unit 3 this Jan. Saved Unit 4 for the May 2011.

I do not find the Unit 1, 2 and 3 difficult but Unit 4 is quite challenging. I guess I will be having a hard time while I will be preparing for that unit. Fingers crossed.

Hello, Can you please tell me from where did you do OCR economics as private candidate. Because I am also looking for but all the "colleges" I found are offering AQA economics.

Thank You
