How Many Driving Lessons Did You Have Before Passing Your Test?

EDIT: It appears someone has resurrected this 3 year old thread. I've already passed, thanks

Just curious.

On this CD I got, it says 45 is the average number of lessons one should take to pass a practical test. :eek3:

When I think about it, it scares me... 45 x £20 = £900 just on driving lessons.
Then comes the car, and that big insurance cost, and all the rest that comes along with it.

*sigh*

So, how many lessons did you have before you passed your practical? Also, did you do Pass Plus - is it helpful in any way at all?

Well, I'm on my third test, coming up, and I've been learning for a year. My psychology teacher passed fourth time, so I'm hoping not to meet his record! But quite a few of my mates passed first or second, after about six months with private practice.

And pass plus reduces the cost of your insurance later on, so it's worth a go.

i had 15 two hour lessons, so 30. and pass pluss is only useful if it reduces your insurance by about £200, otherwise its really not worth it.

20 hours paid lessons + 5 to 8 hours just driving

i had 7. and first
the reduction of insurance if you do pass pluss is often equal to the cost of the course, so i didnt bother.

It's worth noting that age correlates with the amount of lessons needed, so a lot of older people learning will push that up, plus people with poor instructors, people with disabilities, people who take extra lessons they could pass without..

That said, you'll hopefully be able to drive for the next 50? 60? Or more years, which makes the investment seem somewhat smaller.

I haven't passed yet though, so can't answer your actual question.. but still.

10 two hour lessons. Then did pass plus, which was great as I hadn't done any high speed motorway style driving in driving lessons.

30 including the 2 for the test and lesson before - would have had about 17 but failed my theory lmao..and so had to wait till after a holiday to resit it and then till after Jan. exams to take the practical :frown: Oh well, I don't care now I've passed

I've known people to do it in 5 formal lessons if they have a decent amount of access to a car and someone qualified to sit beside them.

Ah right, my instructor said I'm doing pretty good so far, just gotta work on my clutch control (I let go of it too quick at times)

Had 5 lessons so far. Hopefully I'll pass with around 20 lessons ^^
