Wow. Well I have only predicted what my last flute exam mark would be, and I did better than I expected. I don't want to predict my GCSEs though, I don't want to become complacent/get myself worked up!

Out of curiosity, what level is your fluteexam?

I was predicting a grade D for math, but I got a grade B in the end.

If you know the system, I just did Grade 7 Guildhall. If you don't know the system, there are 8 grades, with 1 being the lowest. After Grade 8, you can do diplomas and things. Grade 1 is beginner level.

I know the system. Woah, you are really good/talented to go to that level!

I've been playing for 7 years, it is my main instrument, although I can play the piano and keyboard. Although I've done well I know people who have got 3 Grade 8 distinctions by the time they are 16 and in several National bands/orchs of GB!

You all are talented musicians! :p:

Are you in any bands and/or orchestras?

I am in a local band, who got to the National Band Finals recently. But that is it. My school doesn't have any bands/orchestras and I don't really have time to do any more!!

Sounds cool. I have to see you perform one day, lol. :p:
Yeah one of my friends is fully qualified in theory and grade 8 clarinet, trumpet and piano. She's kind of a musical genius though... she teaches for money in her spare time already (she's 16) and belongs to the National Youth Orchestra, and many other such organisations. She wants to study music at Cambridge. she's also the nicest person i know, lol:smile: not my best friend - but the *nicest*

Ah, scarily talented people... i gave up music, i was quite good at the clarinet but not good enough to bother persevering when it started interfering with my favourite lesson at school , grr

Yes, I know people who have won national competitions and things who are under 16. But I love Music, I don't know whether I want to study it, but I love it as a hobby.
I was almost shaking on the way to school - my mum kept talking about the most random things to keep my mind off it! It's usually not as bad as you think it will be, me and my friends were all expecting the worst and we all did really well. Don't let it ruin your summer though, the one after GCSEs is the best summer ever, whatever you got in the exams!

I am totally dreading that horrible envelope, must revise, must revise!
NickiM
I know it is a random time to be asking about results day as no GCSEs have been taken yet, and it isn't until August, but I just wondered what it is like. I know I will be so nervous on results day, and on one hand will want to open the envelope but on the other I'll not want to.
Ao, what have your experiences been?

I went to spain for GCSE results day nd had my results posted home, so i didnt know them untill about a week after everyone else. I went to mallorca last yr too for AS results and my friends and teachers phoned me with my results. Its way less stressful. I would hate the whole hugs and tears thing that goes on.
I have to go this year tho cos its A2s!! grrr!!
Dont worry you will be fine xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hi realicetic--they are designating couples on TSR now you know:biggrin:

If you know you're good at it, study it. You get an extra good grade in A-level.

Well as well as having it as an A Level, it will be a nice relaxing lesson, as it is not essay based.

That's true. It's more practical and theory based (short answered questions).

By the way, what grade are you predicted for GCSE music?

Ahh...GCSE Music. My teacher is really laid back, and we don't really know what we're predicted. She says I am capable of an A*, and so far I have full marks on 1 of my compositions. She expects me to get full marks (!) on the performances as well. I have done Grade 5 theory, so that will definitely help me at A Level.

Good luck! I'm sure you can get an A*.

I guess you're a talented musician. I'm really crap at theory though when I did it.

Somehow I managed 91% in my Gr5. I dunno how, my practice paper results ranged from 67-87%!

The thing is though, we haven't even finished the Music syllabus, haven't done 1 piece of coursework and all 3 recordings, and basically are left to our own devices. Goodness knows how I am going to get an A*!
