that Samtheman guy is mean. he really loves to criticize people in threads. I think he has a self esteem problem. maybe his mama isn't nice to him. dont worry puppy, u dont need a boyfriend. no one NEEDS a boyfriend.

I know I don't need one. Couldn't get one if I tried anyway.

You can waste time in Oxbridge, they're not all hard-working, just most of them.

I've perfected the art of doing nothing in Cambridge. Although rather worryingly have some exams in a month. Oh well. East Anglia Upstairs Waiter College, here I come!

You think they're still taking applicants at Cambridgeshire Downstairs Don't-have-a-pony-or-an-Oxbridge-degree College?

I'm 20 and can safely say I've wasted about 19 years of my life bumming around. I'm pretty sure I'll never do anything worth while or amount to much because I just can't focus and get things done. I'm terribly lazy and don't take the initiative to join in with anything at uni. In a uni full of "joiners" it makes you feel so useless. I find I can't be bothered to do the smallest things and constantly make excuses for myself that I'm busy or overworked when really I wasted so much of my time doing nothing at all. I have no idea how I've ended up like this- it's been a problem for years. I can't even motivate myself to do the things that really matter to me (i.e. work hard to pass my exams and lose weight)

God, that sounds like some rant you do at a psychologist or self-help guru, eek. But seriously- I need help too.

You sound exactly the same as me tbh.
I just don't get how people can keep just doing things, keeping things tidy, reading lecture notes, making their packed lunches (WTF?!?! who has time for that here!?? What kind of person does that?!). Somehow some people are compulsively working, I guess that's how they got into Cam in the first place, but it sure as hell ain't how I got here.
I never did _anything_ at school, don't even think I ever considered any after school activities. I really don't volunteer to join in, it's hard and weird and too much effort.
But! Cam is set up for it, so just try stuff and find something you enjoy (like football, from a previous thread) and keep running with it and more opportunities will open and then diversify into other sports/whatever. Once you're actually in a routine there's less procrastination, you don't make excuses not to go and do something you enjoy. It also means you have less time for work so you tend to get worried and work more effectively

Just make sure next time someone asks if you want to try something you say yes instead of making an excuse, you might like it and if you don't try you won't know!

Wow, what a terribly cliched self-help stylee post, sorry. It's just you sound like me and in my first year it was **** because I didn't do anything and it's been much better since I started doing things. Good luck anyway!

Hehe, I was really pleased with myself for doing a whole 5 hours work today... some people round 'ere put that in every day and I do it once a month . Finals! Argh?!/1/!
(Should really be doing it more often :p: )
