then later finding out that the course I'd applied for wouldn't give me the accreditation that I wanted

Isn't that your fault, for not researching it properly?

Although their website is quite poor. Then again, I don't think much of many of the top universvities website. UCL's was clear enough last time I looked at it but a bit basic. Northumbria has one of the best websites/online prospectuses. It could do with a little more detail on some courses but it's easy to navigate, clear and well presented. A complete pleasure to navigate (unlike Durham's). But then the ITS service also sucks so I suppose it's to be expected.

It's still the only "college" were you have the option of living out

False. It's just the college that people are usually part of if they're living out. I know of at least one person who is a member of Aidan's, but lived out last year (who is currently a second year archaeologist)

St Aidan's was also a society I think

I think St. Aidan's was set up as a society for the women who were coming to Durham originally. I seem to remember reading this somewhere at some point.

There's one person who I'm sure I've seen in your archaeology shindig photos who I know is at Cuth's and lived out last year...

*cowers and hides"

You're right about the women. It was back in the days when women weren't allowed to go to uni (well, when some unis didn't allow it and they went in small numbers). So they had their own society and it was non-residental (I think). This was when they were on the Bailey. They moved to the Hill and became Aidan's College that we all know and hate.
