School ties - top button done up or undone?

A while ago our school had a massive crackdown on uniform where they insisted that everybody wear their ties with the top buttons done, and have imposed sanctions like detentions for those who fail to conform.

Is your school like this, and do you 'conform'? I have to say that I find it really uncomfortable so I usually wear it undone and hide it under the knot of the tie.

Yeah I hated it.

Red shirt, no shape, tucked in with the top button done up.

Black trousers and black tie.

An ugly and uncomfortable uniform!

I went to a rough school. Actually wearing a tie was enough of an achievement at my school. In year 11 we could wear blouses and we had polo shirts in the summer anyway. I think they realised it would be futile to attempt to impose any sort of smart uniform on us.

Did you used to conform or did you try to wear it undone?
Do you post about anything other than school uniform? :ninja:

school uniform is one of the rule we must follow at my school - if you dont do it then you're dead..

lol! I think I'm a bit obsessed as well though since I seem to wear it 24/7!
un-button
I left it undone even though they said we'd have detention if it wasn't done up. For the year 11 photo they made us do it up and have the tie on properly, blazers on etc but when we got into the room we undid it all.
Mine was always undone and my shirt was always untucked. Eventually the teachers just gave up telling me to do up the button and tuck my shirt in.
I had tie-tying detention once for leaving my top button and tie undone for a photo :frown:
Not any of my three buttons were done. :yep:

I prefer my top button done up, but the collar was so tight, it wa impossible to do up and had to be covered with the tie knot. If you can, without dting - top button done up.

Our school is strangely obsessed with ties being done up properly and uniform in general really. Its especially awkward in 6th form as you are expected to be an example to lower school.
My school where like this too, so I had my top button undone, but had my tie cover it up by not being dead loose.
Undone you square!

Uniform was stupid. But shirt and tie > polo shirt. Polos just looked messy imo.
Yeah our lower school is like this (no uniform in sixth form college ) with my first head between years 7 and 8 (Stormin' Norman) he didn't seem to care much and we were allowed to wear fitted shirts etc.. pretty much if you had a tie on you were fine so long as you didn't take the wee. After that the new head went mental over uniform, we had to wear a v-neck green jumper, boy shirts and a green and gold tie (bleurgh) with the tie done right up - we had to wear the jumper between October half term and Febuary half term and we had to ask teachers if we could take it off if the classrooms were too hot and you had to put it on again before leaving the room.

I never 'conformed' though, mainly cos it was really uncomfortable to have a shirt tucked in and top button done up - I folded my shirt over and covered the top button with the knot.

My school has a 'dress code' i.e wear what you like as long as it's sort of black/white/navy greyish. However one teacher, with what is presumed a huge grudge against all girls with good legs, kicked up a huge fuss and banned 'short shorts'. However skirt length doesnt seem to be an issue. I love my school's random disorganisation....
My school is/was really strict aswell. But now I work there, oh how the tables have turned.
