Rubbish Physics Teacher

I was revising for Physics today and I realised that our teacher hans't taught us all the things in the syllabus in clear enough detail. We have even had lessons where we have been taught stuff we don't even need. I am worried because it'll mean I'll have to work extra hard to understand everything. I don't know whether they'll have any study lessons after school, but if there would be then I would go. I have downloaded the available past papers and the syllabus from the AQA site but there are only 2. Any ideas on how I can improve my Physics?

You could buy a revision guide for physics. I would recommend Lonsdale science revision guides. www.lonsdalesrg.co.uk

I've got a CGP one, I don't want to ask Dad to buy anymore (he won't let me buy my own as it is educational) as I already asked him a lot of times for various revision guides.

Ok.

Since your teacher hasn't finished the spec, you could teach yourself as you have textbooks and revision guides. If you need help, you could ask the people who are doing GCSE/A-level physics to help you.

I could, my Chemistry teacher is also a Physics teacher and she has said she would help me if I needed it. But, I don't want to see her a lot, I am already planning on seeing her to finalise some Chemistry stuff. She might be holding a revision session though so I'll see.

There's still enough time to cover the spec though as the GCSE science exams are on june. So there will be time to cover the other physics stuff.

I hope so, sorry I tend to panic when I think of things.

You will cover everything, don't worry. You got 8-10 weeks left after easter holidays to cover everything. In addition, you have science classes every day, so that shouldn't be a problem.

So, 8 weeks, 48 science lessons!

Yup. That's plenty!

hey good luck with that! in yr 10 for physics we had about 5 diff teachers, they kept retiring or having babies. None of them actually were physics teachers, one was pe, one was dt and the reat were biology...

you should be fine. i pretty much memoised the CGP revision guide and i was ok. at least you realised now instead of 2 weeks before the exam!

His problem is he skips through everything really fast and doesn't really explain anything. Meh. I am using the CPG revision guides and am finding them useful.
Bah, my physics teacher doesn't teach well either...Physics is my second worst subject...

I like my physics teacher. She's nice and funny, but I tend to remember her jokes instead of what we were supposed to learn

I really need my eyes tested I thought the thread title said rubber physics teacher. I thought surely they can't be that short of teachers these days
Honestly, learn the work yourself, I have had a **** physics teacher for GCSE and AS and I just learn the work myself.

57/60 on my first written exam can't be bad.

Well what is the point of being taught stuff we don't need when we haven't completed 1/2 the syllabus!

my physics teacher is ABYSMAL...he's leaving at the end of this year cuz he's so utterly rubbish....i'm having to teach myself two years worth of physics in two months!
My Chemistry teacher sucks REAAAAAAALY REAAAAAAALY BAD! He only got the job cos his son is in our 6th form.

He tells us that he doesn't do practicals with us anymore because they're too dangerous for GCSE students.

The real reason is because every experiement he does ends up going wrong. He set a bench on fire, covered a stool with 5 Molar (!!!!) HCl and watched it decompose and accidentally polluted the Chemistry corridor with Chlorine gas. Subsequently, the school had to be evacuated cos Chlorine does bad things to your lungs.

The worst thing is, we all have petitioned to get him sacked (that's like...his two GCSE classes, around 60 of us) but our Year head ripped up or signature paper!!
