Does the legal age to have sex mean anything to anyone

The legal age to have sex is 16 but do people even pay attention to it or just follow what there friends do? I think that if all your friends are doing it then you are going to wanna do it to just stay in with the crowd. And surely you know when you are ready and some silly law isnt going to stop you doing it is it.
If you dont agree with what i think or would like to give your point of view into this then please do. :tsr:

Yes it does. I would refuse to have sex with someone that was younger than 16.

well... aparently 1/5 of under 14 girls break the law....
my ex thought he had "fallen in love" with a 12 year old.
He's 21.

I know :frown:
needless to say, I felt compelled to try and talk him out of it :frown:
The legal age to have sex matters to me in the sense that I certainly wouldn't sleep with someone under the age of 16, but then I broke the law with the two I've been with (neither were 18)...but that law is just stupid.

for guys and guys together?

Doing it to stay with the crowd? That's pathetic and extremely slutty to be honest. It's also extremely naive because more than half of people claiming they've had sex at high school haven't anyway. It's not a couple of loudmouths who say they have had sex that are the reference. Think about all the people who prefer to stay quiet and when asked if they've done anything they just say "Yeah once, on holiday in Spain... usually a story you can never verify anyway". Hell, even I did it.

The law isn't stupid. It just hasn't little effect. When you see the rate of teenage pregnancy and the number of young people in the UK who haven't got a clue about sex, the risks or anything, you realise that 16 is pretty low for a country like the UK.

No sorry I meant the law for homosexual sex is 18, which I don't really understand, especially when theres no risk of pregnancy etc.

I think you'll find they changed that law a few years ago.

i can see what you are all sayin but most of the peole at my school have had sex and are proud of it and some of them are in long term relationships with peole who are much older than them. however they are very safe because they know the consequences of there actions.

presuming they're under 16, i wonder if the poeple that are 'much older than them' are proud of committing statutory rape.

Later on, you'll discover that a lot of them lied. Trust me. My ex said she went through all secondary school lying. It's not really about lying anyway. You just exaggerate certain things, play down other things. I did it too although it depended on the people. Trust me, you're 15 right? It's very very likely the huge majority of people around you have not had sex. I remember when I was in secondary school, by the time I was 13 or 14, with all the crap that was said, I thought I was the only virgin in my class. Years later, you find out it was a load of crap...

I'm sure out of the people you know who claim to have sex, have had sex, some are serious about it, are in a relationship they feel comfortable enough in to sleep with their partner. But there's a lot to know about sex, more than just what a condom is. What's even more important is knowing how it's going to affect the relationship. When you've got a boyfriend you truly like who keeps asking every minute if you can sleep with him, it seems like that's the thing to do to get the guy's love and respect, even though you don't really want to. Later on, you realise that doing that has the opposite effect: it more often reduces the guy's respect for you.

Then 15/16 year old girls wonder why they've got a "label" or why their boyfriends don't stay with them, despite the fact they gave them all they asked for
Did u know in certain parts of the states, there are 100 yr old laws that are still around like " you can not have sex in any other position than missionary", or "oral sex is illegal". They're just laws that came about hundreds of years ago, and no one has bothered to take em out of the law books.
when i was 15, girls who weren't virgins loved to proclaim thier "virginity". it was the coolest thing in the world to be a virgin. I stayed a virgin for a while, but i never talked about it with anyone cept my best friends. why would u go around talkin bout ur sex life with evveryoone?
