excessive hair growth :(

I have really dark hair and fair skin. I am covered litterally everywhere by hair. My face has a dark downy hair and a very obv mustache and hair on my chin. Its all over my stomach its everywhere. I hate the summer cos everyone can see it more and i cant wear a bikini cos i hate it. I wanted a tatoo on my lower back but cant cos i wd never show it off cos of the hair growth. I am on cilest for irregular periods and the doc said there is nothing else he can do. Is this true???? I cant use hair removal as it is EVERYWHERE. It makes me really depressed and embarrassed. My mum said just get on with it its who i am but i cant. I hate my self cos of this :frown:

I have the same problem and it really sucks because it's so obvious.
The only thing I do it tweeze and wax, which keeps it under control but it's still obvious in parts. I tell myself that you only think it's as obvious as you think it is because you focus on parts of yourself more than others do.

I was going to recommend a trip the doctor but seeing as they said there's nothing they can do, waxing etc seems to be our best bet.

wax every where like legs, armpits, bikin lines, within an year of constant waxing it will not grow back half as quick.
for other parts use bleach, I bleach my belly in the summer and it worls ok, hair removel cream/ shaving these parts will only make the hair grow back even darker.

if it really is bad on your face how about electrolysis?? penement hair removal treatment....it is expensive but deffo worth it if it's getting you down as much as this!!

Could be PCOS? have you had your hormones checked? you could try dianette or marvelon contraceptive pills, also spironolactone is good for excess hair aswell as vaniqa cream from the docs.

No i suggested pcos but he kinda shrugged it off. I wasnt keen on changin pills as cilest seems to work so well atm. What is vaniqa? I have neva heard of it.
I know, i have the same problem as you too.

I have LOADS of dark hair all over my body too, so i have to cover up all the time... its so bad on my face, i have to literally wax my face everyweek coz i get really fast hair growth...and then i just bleach the thin hairs that i dont wax.

i hate it in college because everyone stares at me when im like in class and stuff, it really gets me depressed! so i cant even go really near to people in case they see my face. i have no idea what im gonna do in university though...im going to be doing a course that involves alot of lab work and working very closely to people...:s-smilie:

theres this guy that i REALLY like too and he likes me back, but i cant go over to him or get close to him coz i know that he'll go off me once he sees how hairy i am! :frown:

i want to try laser treatment but its too expensive and there's no way i'll be able to afford it.

the bloody doctors no help either!

Try another doctor, if he says the same thing, just save up your money and get your hair permanently removed.

Honestly as you get older, you'll realise that people are more mature about 'imperfections'. You have to just learn to accept people like tomoli who think it's ok to mock sensitive issues, and be prepared to ignore them.

I understand it may be embarrassing around college etc in the summer as you are likely to be interacting with people that are immature, however once you're out of college, you should be fine.

I pluck or use hair removal cream on places like the stomach.

Try Yasmin contraceptive pill, I had it for a while for my periods and it thinned my excess body hair as well.

its a cream for the hair on your face, you put it on twice a day and it helps to inhibit the growth. it takes around 6 months though. spironolactone is good for excess hair but if theres a chance you might get pregnant you shouldnt take it as it effects the unborn child.

I would get a hormone test.
dont try spiralactone it effects the kidneys in a bad way in the future. its a water retention pill
vaniqa is a cream that can only be prescribed by doctor and most gp aint that familiar with it but it doesnt stop hair thats already there but stops any new ones from growing
defo go back to docs and ask for some tests as if it is pcso you may have problems in the future in terms of getting pregnant
you maybe elegible for hormone treatment which helps alot

I have to go back in 5 months to get more cilest pills anyway so i will ask for the tests then. Even tho that leaves me ugly and hairy for summer :frown:
Hey, i have the same problem with my face (chin, sides of face and neck) been tested for PCOS and don't have it. tried everything, even laser...it didn't work for me and it was £60 a time! reduced it slightly for a little while, they say you need about 6 treatments but think i had nearly 10 and it didn't do much. I actually shave it off, hair removal cream is to annoying and waxing painful so i just shave, up ad down way so its smooth. I have to shave eveyday and if i'm up early in morning then i would do it in evening as well. I actually just carry a razor in my handbag! i have dark hair on my belly button as well, just normally shave that once a week.

I think this is something you need to talk over with your doctor. One doctor said there's nothing more he can do so you find another one and you talk through the problem with the new one. Explain that you've been rebuffed before and the problem hasn't gone away in either the literal or the emotional sense.
If the problem is excessive and is causing you such distress, you may qualify for electrolysis on the NHS. If they can remove male breast tissue, they can certainly help a woman overcome what is an equally cosmetic problem.
You want to discuss the possibility of having blood tests to see if the problem might be hormonal. This would be something they could treat. Don't lose hope and don't feel like you have to settle for someone saying there's nothing more they can do. Excessive hair growth is something that can be either controlled or eliminated on a scale of no hair to excessive hair, so there is definitely something that someone somewhere can do.

I'm the same as you, OP. I have what my friends like to call 'shoulder beards', plus I'm sure I have more hair on my face and stomach than most other people do. Aside from shaving the snail trail in the summer I don't do anything because really, it's not that much of a big deal. If you don't care about it, other people won't, and if they do, then they're sad. Shaving does tend to be the best method though, especially if you have sensitive skin.
