That's a stupid question really. If you're not sure what to wear, you wear shirt and trousers. It's an interview, so you should wear them anyway.

I was planning to wear a normal top and jeans and trainers, but someone just said I should wear a shirt and trousers.

What do you think?

Also does anyone else have an interview tomorrow at Imperial? (for computing.)

My mate went for an interview there - she wore smart trousers + smart top + smart shoes (= good impression) and said that most of the other candidates were in suits. She thought what she was wearing was fine tho - i wouldn't recommend jeans and trainers cos they might think you just can't be arsed to make an effort for their uni. Hope that helps and good luck!

Ok i'll wear a shirt. Do you think I need a tie? I'd feel a bit stupid walking round London in a suit - im planning to stay in London until about 8.

Wear smart trousers, shirt and smart shoes. Take a tie with you in a bag, as you can always put it on just before you get there, and take it off if nobody else is wearing one. I went to all my interviews in smart trousers and a smart top, doesn't hurt to look smart as it shows you've made the effort for them.

I am serious about the interview - I was gonna wear reasonably smart jeans and a smart top - just not a shirt and trousers.

I have been pursuaded to wear a shirt and trousers and shoes now though!

although, in a suit most people look older- so you could prob pull off being 19/20.

there are a large number of men walking round in their 20's in suits.

So would the most normal thing be to wear a jacket with an open-necked shirt?

Yea if you do, they'll know that you've probably got an interview...after all..London is full of unis. Or they'll confuse you for a business executive or some high class 'chap' with a terribly wealthy daddy. Either way, it's not too bad..
