What about that bit about "Whalley range" in one of their songs? I know its an area, but i can't make out the lyric
I haeared that once, I can't even remember what album or song it is on, but its somthing about a rented flat in Whalley Range.
Whalley Range is a very up and comming area of Manchester these days, its now quite an expensive place to live. However in the 1980's it had a reputation for prostitutes and gangland crime. Morrissey also had a very good friend who lived in Whalley Range at the time, I am not sure if he moved in with her not.
This is the house where Morrissey lived with his mother, even when he was in the Smiths (at least the early years)

The buzz about Morrissey is his lyrics, the buzz about the Smiths is Marr and Morrissey's song writing. The music is simply brilliant. The lyrics are often quite comical and amusing but also very true.
