Problem with p3 June 2004 Q.6

Hi I m having trouble with this question, seeing as i dont know where it is online, i will type it out as best i can (the graph is not really necessary)

Figure 1 shows a sketch of the curve C with parametric equations

x=3tsint y=2sect 0<t<pie divided by 2

The point P(a,4) lies on C

Find the exact value of a.

I have a value for dy/dx in terms of T, but i dont know what to do next as i dont have an exact value for T.
Any help will be appreciated.

Find the exact value of a.

If (a,4) is the point on the curve where t=T then

3TsinT = a
2secT = 4

From the second equation

cos T = 1/2

and so T = pi/3 (this is the only soln in the given range for t)

Then

a = 3 (pi/3) sin(pi/3) = pi rt(3)/2.

I think he means you can just pre-order them.
I.e. once the exams are over, and he's had the chance to make mark schemes, then they'll be sent to you- not before the exams :p:

sorry my mistake didnt pay attention to the word pre-order , i thought he was offering answers to june 05 b4 its happened (if u kno wat i mean :wink:

)

wouldnt helped much even if he had jun05 answers b4 exam because i dont do edexcel maths , i do aqa :frown:
