Contact the university and deptartments that you are applying for and ask you local LEA/school/college

dont you have to have accepted a place before you qualify for anything within the uni? itd sway my decision

You usually have to be accepted before things can be confirmed officially but some universities/subjects within some universities have more grants, scholarships, bursaries and awards available than others...and some struggle to find people eligable for the grants etc they have on offer. It's often possible to have a grant etc unofficially confirmed before accepting an offer because most are awarded at the discretion of one or two people.

Brian Heap produces a book called scholarships and bursaries in the UK (or something similar) which is a fairly good starting point but it doesn't include 90% of the awards etc we offer here at Southampton so it's likely that there are far more things on offer than are included in the book.
