all the time.

how can it be bad for you?

I do all the time, otherwise its sort of boring. How can it be bad?

Reply 3

i think you eat too quickly cos you're not paying attention to what you're doing. but unless you choke or something, the most you can probably do is give yourself indigestion

Reply 4

what's said above and- it takes a while until the message gets to your brain that you're full so people tend to eat more...
it's not that it's bad for you, it's just bad if you want to control your diet

Reply 5

sitting at a table rather than on a sofa must be better for posture, not that I care.

I am, it's why nutritionists will usually tell you to sit and eat slowly, have a proper meal, most people will either eat so fast that they'll feel bloated and only a while later realise that they are still hungry or will eat a lot more than they would've had they eaten at a slower pace

Also the social interaction of sitting round the table with other people is much better especially for a child's development

Reply 9

Nah, I eat in front of the computer

Reply 10

I adore eating infront of tv,anyway i'll start eating on a table so that I'll get soooo boring and stop eating

Same here.

The dinner table is in the kitchen and it's near the lounge, so the tv is quite near. Therefore, there's no need to sit in front of the tv to eat. :p:

we have tv on the sidebit but then theres the main table so we rarely just watch TV

Reply 14

the only thing i've heard about this being bad for you is that you don't realise when you are full so you might overeat?

Reply 15

at uni i sit in front of the TV, at home I sit at the dinner table...though the dinner table at uni is in front of the TV anyway, so I can do both! :p:

Reply 16

Yeah, not as much as i used to. We never had a dining table before so the whole family ate infront of the TV. Now i only do it if i'm eating a meal alone and i sit in my room.

1) It's bad for your posture.

2) You don't pay any attention to what you are eating, so you eat more because you don't realise when you've had enough.

3) From a psychological point of view, if you sit at the table and concentrate on eating, your brain can take in the fact that you've had a meal and you don't feel like you need to eat again, whereas if you eat in front of the TV, your brain might not notice that you've had a proper meal, so you might still feel hungry and are likely to eat again, regardless of whether you need to or not.

Basically, if you're trying to watch what you eat, you need to do exactly that: watch what you eat, not the TV!
