I've already chose my firm/insurance for admissions this October, but I'm thinking of entering for an AEA due to boredom. The problem is, I wouldn't want to give up the peace of mind of only having to achieve DD in my final exams to make my offer, and I wouldn't want to have my offer changed to include an AEA because of boredom!

So: If I do submit myself for the AEA, do I have to tell UCAS/Universities?

No... You'd only have to inform them if you were dropping a subject you said you were doing...
