Yes... I know a generalisation. I don't mean it really.

But, I posted a thread the other day about atheists, and I got so much neg rep it's unreal. I wouldn't mind if there was genuine concern, but they obviously just read the (somewhat intentionally) inflammatory title and repped me.

Also, while arguing with me, they completely misrepresented my argument and talked rubbish.

I'm gonna get loads of neg rep again but I honestly don't care one bit. I only use this site for talking to people about/from new universities and stuff.

Seriously though, people advise people madly, repeat nonsense that they've heard, and so much else.

    Ohhhh god.

I don't even know why I posted this (yes yes, you agree, I know). It's just FRUSTRATING.

No I know, you seem nice and have good advice though.

In the minority, though, in my experience.

A lot of these people spend all their time on here rather than out in the big wide world socialising. Hence poor social skills.

It's a quite a large site and it's a large community so will have its fair share of...erm...silly billies. Unfortunately it's these silly people and trolls that tend to be the most vocal. I don't think they're in the majority and the vast majority of members are informed and intelligent people. Besides, I don't think you can really judge a person by a few Internet posts. The existence of trolls shows this. A troll may be sad and have no life but this doesn't mean they actually believe what they type.

Of course it is. It's also full of very intelligent people. That's because there are many people!

There are plenty of genuinely nice, thoughtful and scarily intelligent people on here, but the idiots tend to get noticed more - the smart ones tend to be the ones working hard behind the scenes, instead of making ego threads, like that Fioram lass seems to be doing a lot.

I've only been a member for like an hour, and unfortunately i would have to say that yes, this site is filled with a lot of stupid, and unfortuntely highly opinionated people who never back their points up!!! Grrrr! However, it's probs true that the stupid shout the loudest. Come on smart guys, you are letting the side down!!!!

Ehh.. I personally think you sound like the stupid one, making a thread like that
You say that they "misrepresented my argument". How can you interpret that stupid statement in any other way?

I havn`t been on long but it`s a pretty mixed bag. I don`t really understand the neg rep thing, can people just give it you if they happen to disagree with your opinion? I won`t be bothering with it anyway.

So far I'm far from impressed with the level of debate in D&D. Having been a member of a philosophy forum, it seems to be full of vapid over judgemental idiots with no clue how to debate, and who just like throwing their opinion around as if anyone gave a damn. With the notable exception of a few people. Maybe I'm just not getting it but?

As for the policy of neg repping people I can only sympathise, by far and away the most neg rep is from there, 99% completely umessaged and unsigned, and totally seemingly on posts that are utterly uncontentious. Seems there are a lot of religious morons, who seem to think being honest about religion is a crime against God, Yahweh or Odin. Idiots.

That's probably why they negged you, the outrageous use of ie instead of ei, honestly that's about the level here. I'm not an atheist or an athiest by the way.

Hmm I think, and don't get angry at me, that there are stupid mods, too. I wrote in a thread that asked how much of the bible is true that the bible is a fairytale... And got a warning for SPAMMING! I mean... isn't that an appropriate opinion? And it was to do with the subject, so I don't understand it at all.

Maybe there's someone who likes to warn me?
