Well, back when top-up fees were introduced, all the students who had matriculated under the old fees system continued to pay those fees until the end of their course. So I'd assume it would be similar if fees were raised even further.:dontknow:

They go up every year. From what I can remember it went up from 3000 -> 3100ish between my first and second year. The *******s.

Although your tuition fees loan will also increase to cover them. HOWEVER, it is important that you look up what the next years fees will be when completing your reapplication for student finance each year, as otherwise you will only get a 3000 loan, and end up having to fork up the rest out of you living allowance.

Once you are in uni you are stuck on that fee system, it will simply raise with inflation. So if double fees while you are at uni, you will only pay the original figure before the rise.

Under the current system: No the fees do not increase. You pay the same ammount in real terms every year.

As #12 and #13 said. Once you've joined your fees are inflation linked. All this talk of doubling fees wont affect you if you join before they come into force.

Irrelevant, your fees are linked by inflation to your first years fee, all this talk about doubling etc. wont affect you.

Yep, they do rise each year with inflation. But not a terribly large amount.

I'm still under the old rules, pre-top up fees (£1225 or whatever it is). Shows how long I've been at university really.

So even when top up fees were introduced in 2006 (was it?) I still paid under the old system. So if you start now, with the 3k a year system, but two years down the line universities double their fees, you'd still only pay 3k (ish - as it's adjusted according to inflation).
