    depends what your measuring and how much. Measuring cylinder is good for liquid stuffs and you can get the different sized ones, the smaller the more accurate. By syringe do you mean gas syringe?

    Generally, syringe. You can be sure that less liquid will remain in the syringe compared to the measuring cylinder. You dont need to add drops with a pippete up to a the required level when using a syrine as you would have to if you wanted to use a measuring cylinder. The meniscus may be easier to see in them.

    You can also measure smaller volumes with a smaller syringe (but I assume you are doing a direct comparison so for example, a 10cm3 syringe vs a 10cm3 measuring cylinder.)
