    If i was to apply for a course through extra, then (if i got an offer), when i got there ask to change to a similiar course how feasible would this be?

    I'm not sure about that one English is a very over-subscribed undergraduate programme, but you'd already be a member of the department. I don't know how competitive English and Philosophy is, but there are very few places available so I imagine it must be at least reasonably so. In short, I wouldn't bank on it.

    you can't change out of education + something until after the end of year 1.
