Tiredness

Does anyone have ongoing tiredness and exhausation?

I've been exhausted since basically...late August. I had extreme dizzy spells one day, such as not knowing my whereabouts until a few minutes after I come "out" of the dizzy moment. I've been absolutely exhausted since. My family quickly thought it was college but I ruled that out because I started college a few weeks later.

I've been for blood tests, an ECG and I've tried to make several dietary changes such as cutting out fizzy drinks, etc. My dizzy spells have gone down significantly but I'm still exhausted. I sleep as much as I can and I have three meals a day, but I'm always wiped-out by 10, 11 AM, which is astonishing and pretty bad considering it can affect college work.

I've no idea what it is and neither does my doctor - I was told I have a low level in my blood that occurred each time I had a blood test, but was never informed WHAT level it was nor whether it was something to be worried about.

I am tired 24/7, due to anemia. Yours could be due to that too, lacking in iron.

That's what my mum thought too, so she brought it up with the doctor (bless my mum - she brought up numerous things. Said she spotted something in a magazine about diabetes and got all het up about whether I had THAT or not) but my blood tests showed that my iron was fine...

My mum had anaemia at my age and she has it now, so we're sort of sympathetic to each others' tiredness at the moment.

Sounds like you're suffering from the same thing as me: "Mystery Student Syndrome"........i've had blood tests done and everything, and although things have been at abnormal levels neither of the tests were conclusive...they just have no idea what it is. But I've found that trying to set a regular rhythm to my day can help....try and get up at a set time, no matter how damn hard it might be to get up at that time. And go to bed at a set time as well....and NO NAPS DURING THE DAY!

I was suffering from constant lethargy and colds last summer and my mother made me go to the doctor, as mothers do. I thought it would be nothing but it was diabetes  if it was that for you the blood tests would have picked it up though.

I was falling asleep at random times during the day in Year 12. Turns out I'd had glandular fever ages ago, then I must have caught it again because I got the other symptoms later on. I'm just weird. Hope there's a more straightforward explanation for you.

I am always tired and some days it does boarder on fatigue. I do think it is due to being ill two years ago and the treatment I had a year ago. I'd go in to it but nobody has ever heard of what I had or the treatment. Oh well. My tiredness is often down to just overdoing it in terms of school/going out/youth theatre..

It does get really, really strange. Before all this started I'd normally be exhausted by about 3, 4ish. But now, the same tiredness I felt at the end of a school day is now felt in the mid-morning, at about 10 AM. I've found a lot of my joints and limbs hurt quite a bit, though I've no idea why - it's always my knees, my elbows, my armpit area and my neck.

see if you can find out what the lowness in your blood was.
it could be your white blood cells, my dad had the same symptoms as you and they found out (after months of tests!) that his white blood cells are actually killing each other, hence the teirdness. its not life threatening and they can gove you steroids etc to help.
could be any number of things so try and get your doc to tell you what he knows !
hope our feeling much more energetic soon!!

I'm going to the doctors on Wednesday to discuss the Pill - do they test your blood then? I'm not sure whether I can ask what the low level was unless it was on a record or something. I imagine it should be.

I've been feeling totally wrecked a lot of the time and i kept going to the doctors and they gave me nothing now tey rekon my thyroid is up the creek so they give me thyroxine since then i can't get enough sleep no matter what!!!

Yes, I feel tired quite often. Coffee helps temporarily. Though sometimes, after doing a late nighter/all nighter for school, I feel high rather than tired. Coffee, coffee, coffee. I really hate it when you're in a lesson and you can't help but start drifting off to sleep, and you keep waking up and falling asleep over and over again. I made myself a promise this year to sleep before midnight and didn't really stick to it, so when I don't I just make sure I have lots and lots of coffee.

Have they looked at whether it could be ME?

Some of those things do apply to me - the fact that I can pinpoint it to at least six months ago, the aching limbs and dizziness alongside the tiredness. I'm pretty sure the dizziness was just my doing though, and back then I was overloading on fizzy drinks, etc. I still get a *few* dizzy spells but I presume they're just normal.

I don't want to self-diagnose myself though. Some of those things can be extremely unreliable, and I think I'll sound all moany if I turn up at the doctors with "I THINK I HAVE ME!" if that makes any sense.

I agree with that but if your doctor doesn't come up with somethign soon it might be worth seeing another doctor.

Seeing a different doctor on Wednesday in regards to the Pill. I'm guessing he/she will ask me numerous questions so I might bring everything back up then. It's been going on what, seven/eight months now? Ridiculous!

That is crazy, Its too long for it to be something like glandular fever, and a virus should have showed up in your blood tests. I'd have a good chat to that doctor and see if they can suggest anything.

It's getting to the point where I'm actually USED to it. I mean, after months and months of it, I would be. And that's just plain crazy.

It's also really weird because all this happened just after my birthday (August 9th), and soon, it'll be four months until my birthday. It's getting even closer to a year now.

i think that's quite likely. i had/have that, i was diagnosed over 3 years ago now, and since them i've come across quite a few people in a similar situation. because there's no official test to tell if you have it or not, it's really hard to diagnose. i had to go through a private doctor, as most GPs aren't too confident on the matter. anyway, apparently it's quite common considering it's not very well known, alot of sufferers probably haven't even heard of it and don't know they have it...
