European Youth Parliament

Aloha from, err, Buckinghamshire !
I was wondering if any of you out there are victors of a recent UK European Youth Parliment regional event and are subsequently going to the UK EYP national event 2005 (which, I am lead to believe is in Duhram, Septemberish). My own squad of liberal-baiting savoir-fair Grammar chaps (from the prestigous establishment that is Aylesbury Grammar School) won the Oxford regional event in St Hughs college and are now viewing the trip to northern climes with a mixture of enthusiasm and consternation (the prospect of a so called "Euro-Disco" is frankly disturbing); any banter with members of other teams would be much appreciated.
Thankyou!

I've been to the European Parliment in Strasbourg - it cost like £6 billion pounds to build. I met the President, and all the officials of the parliment. It's a huge building, but very impressive. All the seats are kitted out with translating equipment and headphones etc, so you can understand what people from different nations are saying. We then engaged in our own debates and discussions - my group discussed how we could improve young people's involvement in today's democracy; how we could raise awareness of political agenda, and cultivate voting interest. It was great fun! I'd post some pics, but my Head of Year stole all mine to put on a display board at school when we got back. Just 6 of us from our school were picked to go. I don't think it's the same sort of excursion that you're talking about though, just similar.

I'm now chairperson of our school council, and am in the city school's parliment, so who knows I may visit again sometime (hopefully!). I'm going to Geneva next year, I know that much.
