I got my offer late january, but I only firmed it on UCAS a few days ago, so I'm not really sure.

Oh cool! I'm from London. Where else did you apply out of interest? I can't wait to go to GSA! Although at the moment I know nothing about when it starts, accommodation. I guess we will know later.

Ye, can't wait for Glasgow...I applied to Newcastle, Nottingham Trent route A, conditionals for both...route b, GSA 1st choice followed by Dundee and Robert gordons but didn't send off for either

Oh cool, yeah I did love Dundee! and Robert Gordon was cool too, but yeah GSA seemed the best choice! How long is your course at GSA?

It's the 4 years BA painting and printmaking, entry level 1...ye Glasgow seemed like the better choice and I think they only accept 1st choice applicants anyway.

i got my offer the other day - an unconditional for vis comm. but it's for the first year not the second which i applied for (as i am already doing art foundation) i just wondered if there are any other people who are starting in the first year who have done foundation?
obviously i am thrilled that i've got in but i'm worried about being older than everyone else! (19)
sounds stupid but if anyone can let me know that would be lovely :smile:

Hey! I think the age range for the first year is always pretty varied! I'm 24 and going into first year. My ex also went to GSA and he said there were was people of all ages in his class...from school leaver-age to a couple of people in their forties :smile:

I'm a bit worried too, the whole first day at school thing! but it's going to be so much fun! haha

It's textiles I'll be doing. Its good that they mix up the students in the first year though, so that you get the chance to work alongside people who aren't necessarily going to do the same specialism as you from 2nd year onwards

yeh i think you're right, get to meet people with different ideas and stuff. creativity generally rubs off on other people.
are you applying for halls at all? do you live near at the moment?

I've lived in Glasgow, on the Southside for about a year now, its only a ten minute bus ride into town so it's really handy. Did you come up for the GSA applicants day in January? and did you get the chance to visit the halls?

I'm looking forward to getting into the vic (the art school union) for free, they have some really good club nights on there!

i flew up for my interview and stayed with some friends in bearsden. it was good actually, spent lots of time exploring the city. havent seen the halls, but most halls at unis seem pretty similar so i'll have to see what i get when i arrive!

Yeah, they looked really nice, quite small, not like those student villages you get at bigger uni's. They are right behind the art school too so very handy

Has any one applied for accommodation yet?

Also, what is first year studies, if you do textiles, is first year studies just your first year at GSA then you continue to do another 3? The vic looks crazy! Can't wait!

i'll be sending my application tomorrow i think. hoping for margaret macdonald halls.

if you do fine art or design then there is a more broad year of study in the first year, then you go on to specialise for the next 3 years.

i cannot wait!
