Hi, I'm just interested in examples of when more complex maths is used in the financial industry - just for examples of application.

Just wondered if anyone could post any examples where maths, other than the basics, is used, thanks =]

P.S. Sorry for posting in two sub-forums, not sure where it most belongs...

    Quantitive analysis?

What kind of maths is used? I know its not a simple question - just looking for applications of specific math e.g. Differentiation. I'm at A level now by the way.

doubt you'll ever need to use differentiation in life outside the classroom..

Is that to say that differentiation is used then?

Anything else you can think of?

Financial Mathematics is a topic studied at university. I guess they do plenty of modelling of markets to create effective algorithms to profit from making accurate predictions about the behaviour of the market. I guess the most famous example is Black-Scholes
