I'm all ears..:beard:

There are very good reasons why I won't post it in a place where Oxford applicants are guaranteed to read it. All I will say is this: it's not a problem that is exclusive to Woosta. It exists in other colleges too. How many, I am unsure of :nah:

On a less serious note, there is a serious amount of duck poo  Plus the accommodation manager seems to take 4 hour lunch breaks and thus never be there to answer your questions, or do what she's supposed to :colonhash:

Oh, and a minute number of rooms have no sink in them. It's a tiny amount out of the total number of rooms but if I'd been stuck in one of those, I'd have been furious!

My current room (which i'm only in for 3 weeks luckily) has no sink. I didn't think there were any rooms like this. Rage

I suggest you tell us what you'd want from your college! Are you bothered about accommodation location, or the location of the college itself? Price? (look that up yourself). Food costs? Kitchens? Or whatever else you are interested in. Have you been to an open day? What did you think of that?

I'm quite curious about what it is but Im worried it might put me off going there even though it does seem pretty amazing otherwise :/
Do you or anyone else know how much it costs a year for Worcester? I can't seem to find it on the website. Thanks

It was on the website somewhere, can't remember where, I wrote down that prices vary from £2800 to £3600?

Mine's £353 per term. :unimpressed:

wait a sec... you have to pay extra to actually eat in halls? is that at all colleges? Cause the self catering is looking like an increasingly good option!

I think it's just a charge for all meals in college, £353 for me to eat breakfast and dinner in halls. Lunch is extra.

Which colleges are best for Mathematics and computer science for somebody who is sporty? I'm probably gonna pick one big college and one smaller college, mix it up.

You can only pick one.

Sporty meaning what? You want a college with lots of good sports teams (that you might not get into)? Any specific sports here? Specific facilites e.g. squash courts?

NexTime is quite right: you only pick one. We assign you a second college just before the interview stage of the application process, but you only apply to one. (Or make an open application if you don't mind.)

You might want to take a look at the Oxford University Student Union's alternative prospectus: each of the college pages has a section on sport.

Don't forget, if you're planning on doing joint Maths and Computer Science we recommend that you shortlist to one of the colleges that has a computer science tutor at the college. There's a list here. All the colleges are quickly accessible to the Dept - nothing more than a 10-15min bike ride away. (And I'm a very slow cyclist.)

How is Wadham like? I'm thinking about applying there for law.

I visited them during the summer open day sessions but would like to know more about it.

Well I'd love to know more about the college. Accommodation, food, ...

How is life at the college? Is there accommodation for three years?

Do many students study law there?

No, there's accommodation for first year and one other year, so for lawyers that's 3rd year anyway. Everyone lives out in 2nd year - there's some college accommodation in Summertown which is open to 2nd years but in my year the vast majority of people rented, mostly in Cowley which is about a 5-10 min cycle or 15-20 min walk from college.

Food...it's not bad. Not the best college for food, but a lot better than it used to be. The SU has done a fair amount to get the standard of food up. Dinners Mon-Fri are included in what you pay if you're living in college, though you get refunded if you sign out. Dinner is 2 courses whereas some other colleges have 3 courses as standard (but that's not really a bad thing). And everyone's card gets some credit for lunches if you want to use it - lunch and breakfast are PAYG. We don't do formal hall either, there's a dinner sitting in hall every night but it's completely informal - no gowns, no saying grace, no standing up for the fellows walking in to High Table etc. Wadham is renowned for being a relaxed college. There's no food at the weekends (not many colleges provide food then) except Saturday brunch and Sunday dinner (roast), which are both pretty decent. There are a fair few kitchens in college, particularly if you end up living in the newer part of college - staircases 20-27, so it's easy enough to cater for yourself if you want to.

There are usually between 8 and 10 law students per year, depending on how many are accepted for the 4 year course. It's usually a pretty good mix of people in my experience. College is only 5 minutes from the faculty and we have our own law section in the college library which is very useful for late-night essay crises.

Feel free to PM me if you want some more detailed information on studying law/Wadham/both

Basically the answer above covers it, but check the college website, go to admissions, undergrad, subjects and then pick law, it should tell you how many undergrads are admitted, and give you info about the lecturers/tutors/fellows
