Choosing an Oxford College

The ASBO:student ratios are published on the uni website.

OK, now I'm a bit worried.:frown: My chosen college seems to have the highest ASBO:student ratio by far - does that mean you're actually at a disadvantage if you don't have one? I originally thought I'd get one by running around a residential area at night, pretending to be a woodlark while insulting the queen in a jocular manner, but that didn't work (they said I was "trying too hard"). So does that mean I won't be getting into "my" college, then? I really had my heart set on it...
etc. etc.

Shall I ask my parents if I can move to an ASBO prevalent area, in the hope that this might give me an advantage?
Worcester/Woostaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa is a very social college

Oh, how I have missed you.

There's no such thing as an unsocial (avoiding anti-social here :p:) college, but I'd say Wadham from what I've heard. My very conservative, very reserved, very straight friend was persuaded to dress up in drag for queer bop, which I think was quite an achievement.
I've heard Magdalen's quite unsociable/unfriendly, I don't know if that's true though. Hope it isn't :frown:

I've always meant to ask: which is the most anti-social college?

There is, surely, no question about that; it is All Souls College. Does anyone know anyone there?

I've heard stories of the anitcs of Magdalen laddish rugby guys, and how other students work and don't come out of their room all day... but that's your standard college minorities that dominate the limelight to unknowing people! The people i heard these stories from, along with the majority of the JCR no doubt, are very much outgoing nice people  .

I've never even seen anyone in there! I'm not sure its inhabited by humans.

Isn't it supposed to be haunted (which would account for the "souls" bit)?

I've not heard that, but I do know its full name is The College of All Souls of the Faithful Departed and that it was founded by an Archbishop of Canterbury; it always looks so empty to me.
Surely the most social college is the one with the least representation on TSR? :teehee:

Definitely All Souls, then.
Well as people have said above, from what I could gather from when I went on the open day, Wadham seemed to have the most social events, and students there said that it was particularly known for its social life. However all the colleges seemed to have something going on. But really, I don't understand why bother to apply to Oxford if you want a college that's less Oxford like?

So that's decided then; All Souls is the most sociable college and All Souls is the least sociable college. All Souls is the only place to be. Simples.
All Souls don't take undergrads probs why it's dead
I thought all souls was the place where super clever people from oxford and cambridge went post-undergrad?
Popa Dom
Having said that a different tutor who used to be at all souls told me a story about how all the fellows got smashed once and climbed onto the top of the two tower things without ladders or anything, so i reckon they can get pretty rowdy when the time requires.

AWESOME.

Is your sig actually written on a toilet wall somewhere? There's some pretty unusual toilet graffiti lying around Oxford - one of the New JCR loo cubicles has 'In Longwall Street no-one can hear you scream' on it, and the one my friend Ben in Balliol uses (one facility shared between a floor, I think) has its cubicles decorated by some choice numbers I wish I could remember. There's poetry in there.

Also, for the record, I've heard All Souls is a postgrad research college with stupidly high entry requirements - rumours posit several entrance exams requiring above-A-level or even degree-level proficiency in multiple disciplines, and an intensive oral exam in front of the college's Fellows. This may well just be an exaggeration though.
