And why is that?

Don't worry, it's not true - I'm from a state school which sent hardly any candidates to Oxbridge, and as you can tell, I was really happy there

You two, I just handed in my UCAS today  Waay overdue, I've actually spent tens of hours on my PS and only finishing tweaking it this afternoon :o:

I'd love to know what subject you applied for (Festina) and also what second colleges you were allocated for interview? Was Worc your 1st choice?

:woo: go you!

I applied for law, and Worc was indeed my first choice. I wasn't interviewed anywhere else, but there were lots of other colleges I wouldn't have minded going to - I was wavering on St Hugh's before I actually went into Worcester and looked round.

I hope your application is successful - please do keep me posted

Hi everyone, another boring 'What college' question here...I'm applying for English Lit and have no idea of where to apply to. Tempted to go for open application right now as I don't really have a preference for things like location, prestige etc. I mentioned going to a taster day at St Anne's in my PS,shall I just apply there?
Hi everyone!
I want to apply for Medicine (2011 entry) and I was always set on St. John's but now that I take a closer look I think I may prefer New College.

What do you think?

Thanks ^^

Have you visited both?
Noble.
Have you visited both?

I live in Spain and haven't had the opportunity of visiting any of the medical schools I am applying to.
I am just making up my mind from the things I read in the Internet which is why I will like some opinions from people in TSR.

Thanks ^^

What specific things are you looking for in a college? Accommodation provided for all three years, high percentage of en-suites etc?

I am looking for a traditional college (old buildings), high percentage of en-suites, good social events and good atmosphere in general.

From what I know, no first year students get an en-suite at St John's. New has quite a high percentage of en-suites though (plus it's one of the oldest colleges).

Yeah so I will keep on doing some research on them but for now I am going for New College.

Thanks for all your help

I know it changes yearly, but generally speaking, place these colleges in order of how competitive they are.

Queen's, Exeter, Merton.

I'm going for PPE btw...

Prooooooobably Merton, Queen's, Exeter, though the decision between Queen's and Exeter is VERY difficult. Bear in mind this doesn't affect how likely you are to get into Oxford, just your chosen college.

That's with the most competitive first, right?

Christs College: A reputation to academic brutallity towards students, but then again a lot of students at all colleges will say they're worked damn hard. Also well known for international applications, and rumours of giving out EE offers...so there's a plus side, they dont want you to stress over your exams if they make you an offer.

Is the part about international students true?
Is there any college which accepts, or encourages more international applicants in your humble opinion? thank you!

And I always had my heart set on Clare, but since they only take 7 international applicants a year, I thought that I was probably stretching my chances :frown:
But I quite like the sound of christs

I think you need to be in the Tab forum ...
French at Oxford -
Brasenose, St Anne's or Worcester?
I'm currently thinking Brasenose. Does anyone do French at any of these? Thanks

Does exeter supply accomodation for the whole 3 years if you want it?
I've heard conflicting info.
