Do you have a stereotype that Eastern European person is some kind of ugly barbarian who jumped out from bushes to repair your water tap or to move your furniture for a penny ?

I know that for some people words like Eastern Europe, etc. make them think only of vodka, prostitutes, old 'shoe-box' cars, poor commieblocks and everything else poor. But that's problem of those who think like that...

I am Polish and I used to have a British girlfriend, there is nothing wrong with it. Obviously there were some questions in terms of culture differences.

Wow, love ppl for starting topics like that.
The UK has like the most massive amount of immigrants here in Europe, so maybe even most of the posters are from non-british origin, and someone ask this question?

I see no problem in that, I consider my self Polish, although I'm some strange mixture of German/Scottish/Polish

If you think many Poles are plumbers and builders, I advise you to check the most well-paid managers and CEO's in London City, you will see that we're not only plumbers etc.

Of course most of the immigrants make a bad impression, as they can not fit into the society, do not know English, but we not that different

You may never know who you throw a glare at on the street thinking he's British, first of all we're form the European Culture Circle, we're white, mostly catholic

And after world world II it wasn't anyhow embarassing to have a Polish bf/husband  As many families ave Polish surnames, ;cos Polish pilots fought in the "Battle of England" in the 303 Division

Even my University founder is from Polish descent and his surname is Madejski

Anyhow sorry for the long post but, to the point if you ask such a question, I'd better inform this guy, that it's not worth it to date someone who bothers about nationality.

No.

We're all heading as one race and one nation anyway, so....

Being a guy who has worked with Poles,Czechs (HOT!),Slovaks(HOT!),Latvians,Lithuanians,Estonians (you get the message) I kind of know the way they look at British society.

They are to be honest the underclass. A lot of people look down upon them. Just think of the way the Upper and Middle class used to treat the Working class. While everyone raves on about Polish girls they don't like the idea of Polish guys going out with English girls.

How ever that is not the case for everyone.

****GASP*****

How will it EVER work??

Why would it be...?

I think there is nothing wrong with Polish guys.
We have different culture then British, and Polish guys are different then British guys in relationships.

I'm live in UK around 5 years, and had before Scot girlfriend. After few days I start seeing language barrier, but if you really want it isn't any problem.

Sorry for my grammar, still learning

wow, man - your grammar is terrible for someone who has been living here, in this country, since 2004 :s

as a fellow Pollack I've got to tell you it's really embarrassing for me to see people from my country speaking such a clumsy spall of English.

you should get out of Hammersmith more and stop watching Polsat on illegally-owned, Polish digital TV.

EDIT: And you've actually finished a UK-based university speaking that English?
That's appalling. And only reinforces the points made here and there about the level of universities plummeting down and diploma mills mushrooming in the wink of an eye. :yep:

Go easy on the guy. I know people who've been here for 10 years and still can't speak properly.

Reply 91

Hi Greg, I am an English girl and I can understand you completely so don't listen to nasty people quickly trying to pull you down.

I have been seeing a polish guy for only 4 weeks and he treats me like a princess.
I hope that it lasts..
He is wanting me to visit Poland this year to meet his parents.
He is the first polish guy that I have known and seems like a lovely guy.

I find the polish language pretty hard to learn, but I'm trying :/
