I was under the impression that the reason that d did not ban unregistered users until now was economic - apparently this site does not pay for itself and unregistereds provide most of the traffic. I wonder what convinced him to change his mind?

a bucket-load of spam and the mods who were bored of deleting it. you can't see how much rubbish has been posted on this forum up till now. i don't think there will be any reduction in traffic, there'll just be more registered users, which is a good thing. it's no trouble to register (2 mins max)
