Mighty Big Prom Dress Thread!

I've noticed lots of prom dress threads already so here is your refuge, I don't want prom dresses cluttering the forum. If you've got a question about prom dresses, want people's opinions, need help finding accessories etc, everything goes in here. Any prom dress threads will be merged into her.

If you don't get the answers you want, simply re-post your question (but don't spam).
People replying to questions, please quote the post so that there's no confusion.

Obviously you can't have multiple polls, so no polls please.

Goodluck!

Ok, I'll hop in first!

Could anyone telll me where to find some bllack peeptoe shoes to go with this?

I'm not wearing the flower, the belt, or the petticoat, so the dress just hangs of my waist. Also, the dress is a slightly brighter red than this.

I think peeptoes would go with the dress retro feel, and black because it would be a nightmare to find a red the right colour (thus a black bag to tie it in)

Any ideas people?

And if anyone has any idea how I should have my hair aswell, I'd like it down, and there is a photo of me in my profile

Thank you

Tried JJ (jonathan james)? It's a show shop and I got the most lovely peep toes from them. But I think I saw peep toe shoes in loads of stores recently

Unfortunately there aren't any stockists in the south east. And I know, I'm sure I've seen loads, especially in New Look, but I can seem to find any online!

I was thinking these, but I would rather some that were more plain

I like the idea of just having a clip in my hair, nice and simple

From your last link, I really like:

Are they only online? I'd rather try them on, as I don't want to be too tall... Gah, I'm so awkward! Sorry :frown:

But thank you! I may persuade Mum to give the second pair a go...

Am planning on getting this blue dress for prom.

I want to wear a cardi with it, as I'm self-conscious about my upper arms, but I was wondering if black would be ok with a blue this dark, or would it look odd? Would I be better trying to find a cardi that was the same colour?

Thanks!

Ebay, it was originally from ASOS, and apparently it hasn't been used

I was so thrilled with it, it was really hard to find a bag in the shops which went with the dress. Or maybe I'm just fussy

I think black would be ok (could be my eyes, but the netting looks black) but how about a black pashmina? It sould still cover your arms, and I think it would look pretty with that dress

For my ball two years ago I had a black pashmina/shawl thing with was translucent, but you still couldn't really see my arms, and that was from Debenhams.
oooh i really like that, its lovely.

you'd probably be hard pushed to find a cardi that would go, so perhaps a shawl or something??

and a really nice necklace would look great

Yeah, the netting is black - I've seen it in Debenhams. I've just seen the arguments on here about navy/blue and black, so I thought I'd check.

The shawl thing isn't a bad idea, but I just can't be done with them. I've tried them before, and they always slip off unless I clamp down tight or hold my arms at a permanent 90-degree angle! Not much good on the dancefloor for anything except the robot! I agree that it would be better than a cropped cardi in terms of style, but I find them too much hassle and I'd rather enjoy the evening!

Unless anyone has any tips for taming shawls?

You pose a good point lol

How about, wrapping it around your arms/back, and you know how you then tuck it underneath your arms? Well, try pinning it to your dress with a safety pin? The holes would be small and unnoticable if you chose to wear the dress again, especially as they are in a out of the war place

Would you like me to draw you a diagram in paint  Or did that actually make sense?
Hey, where's the Prom Suit thread? :p:

All this talk has got me in the mood for preparing for prom, even though my college do's not till next year...

I was thinking of something like this, but I'm not sure whether I want it in blue or orange (personally I like the orange, but I'm not sure whether it'd suit my blonde hair). There's also this one, but the more I look at it the more I keep thinking it looks too old for my age with the flower print. What does anyone else think?

I think that made sense....

I might sneak a few pins into debenhams and try this! If it rides up, slips down or doesn't stand up to changing-room boogying, then I'll go for the cardi, but hopefully it'll work!

The dress is adorable but I think the bag is completely wrong, sorry. :frown: It's cute but not with that dress.
