Wow, 60kgs is small (for a guy of course), that's what I weigh (now you see my problem)


Unless you're about 4' tall, 60kgs isn't much for a girl either.

Although 60kg is considered a healthy weight for puppy's size, she could, on a BMI basis, go as low as 45 kilograms and still be considered a healthy weight (I can't stand the metric system: a little over seven stone, compared to her present weight of 9.4 stone).

As far as sports go, are you at Uni? Your gym will do weekly circuit training, go twice a week to that, thats intense exercise for 30 mins at least. Also, spinning classes, Im sure theyll have them, do that twice a week. That leaves 3 nights where you can do your own stuff.

I cant really give tips for exercise, you either are motivated to do it or you arent, if you think 'bloody hell I dont want to go for this run' then you arent alone, the difference is if you think 'i dont want to go for this run, but if I do it I will be 1 step to my goal, and I will feel good after doing it' it makes it just that little bit easier.

30 mins really is nothing in terms of exercise time, it may seem long and boring, but trust me, the more you do it, the easier it becomes, after a while you'll also find that you have to concentrate less on the given task, so you can think about other stuff, other than how boring or how much the thing youre doing hurts.

Break things down into sizeable chunks, listen to music, just think, 3 x 3:20 minute songs is 10 minutes, listen to 9 songs and youve done 30 minutes of exercise.

Its bloody hard to explain but basically you just need to get stuck into it, the reason you havent seen results so far is because you havent been commited enough, and once you do start seeing results itll further motivate you to carry on.

God, Im close to tears here, just saw a picture of me on holiday in cyprus 2 years ago at 20 stone and 6ft ish, bit of a change compared to my current 6ft 2 14.5 stone physique, hopefully I can scan the picture to show you, its all the motivation you need :redface:

oh god i made myself sound like a total lazy arse which isn't true well it wasn't true. I used to play badminton, go to the gym 3 times a week and swim about 4 times a week, it was great and I felt great but I didn't loose any weight even in 6 months but I thought I should keep at it anyways coz I was enjoying it. About 3-4months ago I started feeling very very very tired the ran some tests which showed I had an under active thyroid which apparently explianed why I didn't loose any weight and why I was getting tired so now I do very little as since I started taking the drugs I get even mrore tired literally walking the 2 miles from my college to home was enough to leave me feeling totally finished!!!

The Atkins diet isn't a great idea for young people, also it's not something you finish. If people just go back to how they ate before then they've failed, it's all about setting up a routine. My dad follows it and he's lighter than he's keeping off the wieght and has been for about 2 years now.

Also ignore all the sensationalism against Atkins, there is no strong evidence against it. Starving yourself, which is what most diets consist of is just as bad.

The problem with the science of dieting is that most people involved are nutritionists, who have little medical or scientific background. They've learnt more from glossy magazines than textbooks as far as I can tell.

Try drinking 3 litres of water a day. It makes you too full to eat lots and it also helps your body/digestion etc. If you eat 5 portions of fruit and veg per day that should leave you with very little room to eat other, less healthy foods. I lost lots of weight this way. Water's also good during revision as it aides concentration. 45 mins of aerobic exercise is meant to be a great fat burner too.


it cant be good for revision, when it makes you run to the loo every 5 mins... :rolleyes:

having said that running to the loo every 5 mins, is a sure good way to get fit and lose weight!

I like sport, but exercise sucks, I just can't get excited about running around for no obvious reason other than as part of a desperate quest to get buff.


I've just started taking up running because I'm doing the race for life- 5K, which isn't really that much, but seeing as I hated sport and do no exercise it might as well be a marathon... As I said, I've only just started, but it's given me the motivation to go running for the last two days when all my other thoughts about maybe doing some exercise have led to nothing. So I'd suggest maybe you can train towards a race of some sort in order to keep your motivation up, the twin goals of losing weight and aiming for an event might make it seem a little less boring..

Not sure we have things like that at Uni, it's more of a sports Uni anyway which is good as I prefer competitive sports to exercise classes.

It is starting to get easier, I went for a run today (still only my usual mile but it's difficult to run round where I live due to various factors) and I found it much less painful, was able to revise verb conjugations at the same time and manage to sprint the last 50 meters or so back to the house. That's 2 days in a row I've been out for a run so things are looking up on the exercise front! It's also only 2 weeks until I'm back at uni and will be able to start playing sports again.

I did consider doing that but it's not a charity I would usually support so decided against it. I have some motivation, to be fit for next football season so I can get onto the Uni team, it's something I'm pretty driven towards achieving.
