i wouldn't have hoped such a thing is too frequent based on how, if you try and the exam means a lot to you and you've been entered at an approapriate time, it should hopefully go ok (fingers crossed)
Nope, but I'm about to. Grade 7 in two weeks, and I still havent been given all the material I'm supposed to learn. Also I cant sight read.... fun times..
Lowest so far was 108 on grade 5 piano, I seem to remember I just scraped through on the scales, probably sight reading and one of my pieces getting the pass mark, definitely not my finest hour. Had a bit of a break from exams for a while, thinking about tackling grade 6 piano next year (and perhaps grade 1 clarinet this year...)
I failed the grade 5 theory test. Though I think something went wrong somewhere, as i believe i did really well. I also remembered the harder questions and repeated them to my music teacher and he said he would have given the answers i did.
1) First time I just didn't know enough, still, was only a few marks of a pass so wasn't that miffed
2) Somehow missed a question out, I don't know how, so I failed again. If I'd got the average mark from my other questions would have been fine, but no.....
Failed Guitar Grade 1, parents bought guitars, tutors, and all the other crap and i failed by 2/3 points. Didn't really think the scales were much use, so i didn't bother learning them.
I managed to get 62 in my violin exam (grade 3, I think!).. Lowest mark they'd known! I was so proud! (I just didn't bother practising at all... I think they asked me 3 really horrible scales, so I just said 'Ah, don't know that one...' I got 1 mark for scales )
I didn't fail any of the others (piano, oboe) though, I just loathed the violin!
Grade 7 piano. Wasss very scared because of the examinier was all tall and big and had a suppper deep voice and I was like eep. don't hurt me.
Aaaw. I think all examiners are evil, and employed for the sole purpose of scaring us all to death. My examiner a while back was a little old woman. But she was EVIL!
